I am 195cm and 94kg.

 

When i google this I get hundreds of pages telling me that i am normal weight. When i google these numbers with google images I get pictures of ripped guys.

 

However I look nothing like this. I LOOK FAT. Maybe not when I wear my clothes, but when I undress I look ridiculous. 

 

I also don't feel normal weight. I run and I started developing knee problems. Manboobs starting to show.

 

I watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood the other day. Brad Pitt was about 55 when he made that movie. He looks great without a shirt on. I am 50 and look nothing like Brad Pitt.

 

Is BMI a worthless measurement and how do I get to look like Brad?

Not necessarily a correct answer but man boobs could be an early indicator of insulin resistance. Get your blood sugar level & blood pressure checked. In my case it was a thyroid issue I went from toxic overactive to toxic underactive after my thyroid was nuked with iodine. Before being put on thyroid medication I put on weight, grew the man boobs, was always tired and lethargic. So that's another possibility.  Sheryl is probably the best one in this forum to take notice of when it comes to comments about possible medical issues, not individuals like myself who can only comment on what they've experienced.

all depends on fat percentage of your weight.  Waist size?  I still have probably 2 inches that I need off my own body, I work out regularly eat only healthy meals (no sugar no fat high fiber meals) on my own bmi I am 2 pounds under the lowest ideal weight for my size.  Losing those last 2 inches is rough.  You should be able to look at yourself nude and determine how much you need to lose.  At 50, over the next decade what you will change in your life will determine how healthy you might be in your 70's or 80's.  Most of my life (50 years at least) I was a runner - until I turned 65.  Still continued exercising and walking (8km morning and 8 km evening)  - lost 18 kilos in 3 months without a strict diet.  I am not saying you should walk that much - especially at first, but walking is natural and you can wear running shoes - many types not to expensive but quality.  start slow, and fast walking itself is not the answer - as studies show, the top distance is about 7500 steps pace forget about that but for your height it will probably be somewhere in the 6 km range.  Start at a km a time and build up weekly.  breathe through your nose (if outside in pollution wear an n95 surgical mask).  Cut starches, eat veggies first, protein and then starches (potatoes/rice/bread).  Veggies should include broccoli, bok choy swiss chard protein - fish chicken  Try eating during a 12 hour period and then (including sleep) 12 hours of not eating.  Drink 2 cups of coffee, 2-3 cups of green or black tea (no dairy no sugar) each day...try including beans as a protein regularly too.  Just some hints as I am sure others probably have many more.

According to the NHS website you are at a healthy weight but towards the top end of it (pretty much on the border with being overweight).  BMI is just a quick indication though.  It doesn't take into account muscle mass or body fat.  

 

On the NHS site it does state:

 

BMI is just one way to measure health. It cannot tell you if you're carrying too much fat, or if you've got lots of muscle.

It is advised that you measure your waist to find out if you're carrying too much fat around your tummy.

You should try to keep your waist measurement to half your height.

A blood check including hormones would be appropriate. A lack of testosterone is often the reason for a belly even.

I'm 57, 185cm & 67 kg 

BMI is 20.7

Fat 15.2%

I have a flat stomach but still have a layer of annoying fat that hides my abs.  I can feel them but can't see them. 

I look pretty good shirtless. 

I bet your body fat percentage is high, especially your visceral fat.   

Do you have a body composition scale and a fitness watch to track things?

You are pushing the limit into "obesity", especially if you are not carrying muscle mass but fat which is lighter and occupies more space

A bit of a dumb comment with little backup.

 

I have been running for the past 25 years. I can run more longer and faster than most roid users at my gym.

 

I think all this running gave me knee issues. I am unwilling to start some workout regimen because I am not 23 anymore. 

 

My 43 year old wife was 53kg last summer. Now she is 42. She is 157cm. She did it all by dieting. Maybe it's time to try that. Just shut my yapper.

69   178cm  according to the charts..  I'm 18.5 BMI

BMI doesn't apply once you exceed average heights.  I am also 195 and have been 105kg of solid muscle.  Now 15 yrs later, 195 and 93kg with a small amount belly flab and not much muscle.  If Iose anymore I will look like a tweaker.  Some tall people are twigs with long legs, others are big boned with long torsos.  Too many factors for BMI to mean anything.

running won't build muscle mass. at your age every passing year you will lose more and more. get off your big titty man boob ass and workout... or accept the inevitable.  you have made it clear you want to be lazy and not workout to gain what you are looking for.

Yeah, I've advocated against running many times on this forum. It's a very bad and even dangerous exercise in my opinion.

 

Pick up a sport. It can even be ping pong or badminton. Anything that makes you move and sweat a bit. 

And walk a lot. Walk daily for groceries. 

Most people will never lift weights because it's hard work, but at least do some low intensity cardio by walking and a bit more intense cardio with a sport. 

The weight will come down. 

Unless your knees are so bad that you can't even play sports ... 

 

And diet too. I started eating all my carbs in the morning. No more carbs in the evening. I dunno if that's good advice. But that's what I'm doing.

     Brad Pitt is an actor.  Brad Pitt's day job is to look like Brad Pitt for as long as possible.  He looks terrific at his age because he is clearly putting in the effort to achieve just that.  He is willing to do that, even though he is 'not 23 anymore', either.  Since you are 'unwilling', it seems like you have come up with the best choice for you--dieting.

Borderline overweight, so looking at the range you could easily lose weight. Recheck your height again, guys shrink but use their old height.  Looking in the mirror is a good test if the body looks ok or not

I think only free for diabetes, not for weight loss.

 

I was type 2, but went on the ganja diet, lost a bunch of weight and am no longer diabetic.

 

The ganja diet, for me, caused me to eat a lot less. I'd pig out and eat 15 chicken wings, for example. Then I tried to do that after smoking a bit, and after eating 5 or 6 I would think that it's too much. Somehow it migrated to non-high and now I couldn't eat 15 wings at once even if I hadn't smoked.
