Receiving money from abroad via alternaive method to Western Union

Featured Replies

Friend in the US is going to send me a couple of grands usd... He said he's going to use Western Union, I said hold it! I gave him my paypal email recipient, that didn't work . Response he got from paypal "You can't send them money/ Your recipient [me] can't accept payments right now!"

I contacted my US credit union and asked if it's possible for the person to simply show up at one of said credit union local branches and do a deposit into my account. They said no (or possible depending on the branch but no guarantee). They recommended doing an e-deposit instead ...So I would like to hear from other folks who have successfully received funds from outside Thailand, their chosen methods other than Western Union if possible

Thank you much in advance.

What about Wise ?

I've thought about that too. I just don't want for my friend the sender to have to sign up/enroll for this or that, etc. The least hassle for him I would prefer.

WU is much better than it used to be.

Could you give me the step by step through WU,especially on the recipient end? Thanks. That would bolster my confidence somewhat. I just don't want the money got stuck he couldn't get a refund and I couldn't get a payment (old fashioned thinking I admit, never having used WU before, always thought it would be for real dire circumstances.)
