Cannabis Network Proposes Four-Point Investigation for Cannabis Legislation

National — On July 8th, 2024, Mr. Prasitchai Nunual, the Secretary-General of Shaping the Future of Thai Cannabis, led over 300 cannabis supporters in a march to the Government House.

They submitted a petition urging the Thai government to establish a joint committee to scientifically study cannabis use. Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister’s Office Mongkolchai Somudorn, received the petition, urging the protesters to remain peaceful. Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin is expected to respond to the petition today (July 9th).

Prasitchai argued that the government wants to regulate cannabis under narcotics laws, which the network opposes. They advocate for cannabis-specific laws that would cover everything from seed to export, including consumer protection.

The network proposed four key points for scientific investigation: the physical impact of cannabis compared to tobacco and alcohol, its societal impact over the past two years since its first legalization, its medicinal efficacy, and whether it causes psychiatric issues or damages children’s brains.

Interesting. Interesting in that it's such a short article compared to those that demonize dope and support the narrative of recriminalisation. Also interesting in that these crucial matters will not be considered.

Of course it does, same as alcohol and tobacco does. These drugs should not be used by children.

That's already covered under the existing laws in Thailand that prohibits sale of cannabis flowers to anyone under the age of 20.

no one ever advocates for children to use drugs. ever. have you ever hear of anyone you know saying

hey lets give these kids some drugs.

I'm surprised they got themselves off the sofa and got as far as a protest march, clearly not high at that point.

This photo makes me think that Thailand is exactly the right country to retire .

Think positive ... dinosaurs will become extinct here ... vote for the young , the old are ignorant , selfish , corrupted to the core and simply ... too old .

It was decriminalised, not legalised.

Educate yourselves.

if these guys are really serious about protecting this herb from God, i really hope that they can muster up considerably larger crowds. right now, these numbers showing up at rallies arent doing much to convince the rest of the populace... this is a thing for thais to take care of. too dangerous an issue for foreigners with tony taxsin back

Why do these things always get personal..  remember that at cliche that dad used to tell you.

Walk away let it go.  He is not worth the headache.

Lol

On the topic though I think that the government needs to limit the people that can sell.  I am sure thatosy of the pop up locations could care less about ages.

Locations selling should be registered and monitored.  Se regulations as bars in that they are not allowed to open near schools or universities.

That sort of comment just shows how ill educated your are about such matters.

its all good i gave him a special cookie.

i would love to help with regulation and drafting of laws. i know a farm in phuket that is literally across the street from a school. now in saying that you could point out a truck load of bars or girlie bars etc within stones throw of schools in thailand.

regulation is needed. the legal system in canada has worked quite well i think. not without its flaws though but it is the first one after all.

I think the word you are looking for is “drivel”. I’m glad to see you practice what you intended to preach.

You dribble a football.
