Bringing dog to Thailand for 3-6 months

OP don't let the negativity derail your plans.  If you have the funds, and prepared to spend a bit of time planning where you'll stay, there is no need to spend months separated from your four-legged family member. 

 

The processes are straightforward (ignore the 'brown envelope' remarks that's nonsense)... let your agent handle it. 

 

One other point, the local stray dogs can be a bit territorial, so we usually carry a stick when we take Mutley for a walk! Never had to actually use it though.

I saw last week that the USA has banned any dog from entering its borders whether a US or foreign dog, so if your dog is out, it isnt allowed back

 

cant remember the news source so try google or the local international airport vet

 

I know that there has been a rabies ban in effect for over a year that covers Thailand to USA

We travel all over Thailand with our ~14kg dog and have never had trouble finding accommodation, but of course, the options are a lot more limited than without a dog. We sometimes stay in hotels and sometimes airbnb or similar.

 

The requirements to bring them in to Thailand are pretty straightforward and you can do it yourself, but if you want an agent to help you, then Christine's Pet Travel on FB has a good reputation. The most important thing is to fly them in as excess baggage, not as cargo. They will travel in the cargo hold either way. It's just an administrative issue, but a cargo designation is a lot more expensive and complicated on arrival.

Getting them out of Thailand afterwards can be a bigger problem, depending on where you are going. If you are travelling back to the USA, be aware that the rules are going to get stricter on August 1st, and they haven't released all the details yet.

 

It's currently very difficult to get a USA import permit for a dog. At the moment, that process is waived for dogs that were rabies vaccinated in the USA and are returning there before the vaccine expires. However, if that changes, and you have to go through the whole application process to get back home, you might want to reconsider.

In 7 years I have zero. 

On booking you can filter for pet friendly hotels/resorts.  IBIS takes pets but not sure if they have a size limit.

depending on your country of origin , there are many issues regarding vaccinations, health checks and quarantine - both on the way in, and again on returning home.

definitely not worth doing for such a short trip

Easy enough to get them here, but I'd only recommend putting your dog through it for permanent changes such as living here full time, 2 flights in a few months is pretty bad nevermind you would need to get straight onto getting the paperwork done for heading back and for returning to some nations it can be a pain the ass (US comes to mind)

If you love your dog, don't bring him here.

 

Between the snakes in the garden, other rabies infected soi dogs and many other obvious administrative hassles... plainly a taxi or a Bolt will usually never accept a dog.

A valid viewpoint, but overly negative for us. 

 

Mutley loves it here in Thailand with the family. 

 

A bit of paperwork is not too much hassle for a family member.

you can have one of them if you want a dog here ....      leave yours at home.

why  ?    there are thousands of soi dogs roaming,  they do have diseases,  they do lay in 7-11 doorways, they do bite kids and old folk. 

 

now go away.

      Man Shoots and Kills Brother-in-Law Over Land Inheritance Dispute

      Picture from the scene. A fatal family feud over inherited land led to the tragic death of 57-year-old Mr. Phongsak (last name withheld), who was shot and killed by his brother-in-law, Mr. Manoon, aged 62, in Phatthalung province. The incident occurred around 11:50 on September 12. Police from Khuan Khanun Station, together with forensic officers and rescue personnel, were dispatched to the scene in front of a house in Moo 16, Cha Muang sub-district, Khuan Khanun district. The victim was found lying next to his pickup truck, with multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen, right upper arm, and left leg, caused by a long-barreled shotgun. Investigators recovered shotgun pellets and found damage to the house window screen and louvers, evidence of the gunfire. The shooter, Mr. Manoon, the victim's brother-in-law and owner of the house, surrendered to the police shortly after the shooting. According to initial reports, the victim had driven his pickup to the house and was shot by Mr. Manoon as he exited the vehicle. The shooter fired through a window, fatally wounding Mr. Phongsak. Mrs. Sumitra, 67, wife of the shooter, stated that she was doing laundry at the time of the incident and did not hear any argument due to the noise from the washing machine. She only heard a single gunshot and rushed to investigate, only to be stopped by her husband, who confessed, "I've shot your brother." Shocked, she discovered her brother lying dead next to the truck. The dispute stemmed from a long-standing conflict over inherited land. Mrs. Sumitra explained that her family had already transferred ownership of one plot, about 4 rai, to the victim. However, Mr. Phongsak had been pressuring them to transfer a second plot, approximately 7 rai, which had been mortgaged to the bank. Unable to meet his demands, tensions escalated over the years, culminating in the fatal confrontation. According to Mrs. Sumitra, Mr. Phongsak had been threatening them, even warning that if the land was not transferred, he would "lay funeral flowers" for the family. He had been visiting the house repeatedly for three days before the shooting, demanding that the land be transferred. Mrs. Nanta, 49, wife of the victim, expressed disbelief that family members could resort to such violence. She revealed that the disputed 7 rai plot included a house, a palm plantation, and a rubber plantation. The shooter's family had mortgaged the land, leading to severe financial trouble. Her husband had been negotiating to claim his rightful share, intending to sell it to help settle the debt. However, the family conflict remained unresolved, and in a final confrontation, her husband was shot and killed.       Exactly, which is why I said it was a mistake for Trump to play her game on an enemy station ( with an obviously biased moderator that was prepared to offer her support during the debate ). If he does decide to do another, the rules should require the moderators to not say anything other than ask the questions.

A construction site incident occurred at approximately 15:40 on September 12, near the Central Nakhon Sawan shopping complex, in Mueang District, Nakhon Sawan province, resulting in the death of one person and significant damage to nearby homes. The large construction crane, part of an ongoing development 19-story condominium and shopping complex project, collapsed suddenly, sending debris crashing onto surrounding properties. The accident occurred in a busy commercial area near Central Nakhon Sawan, raising concerns about safety standards at construction sites in populated areas. Eyewitnesses described the horrifying moment when the crane began to topple. "I heard a loud metallic sound and saw the crane tilting. In a matter of seconds, it came crashing down. It was terrifying," said one bystander who was shopping nearby. Emergency services were quickly dispatched to the scene. One individual, a Cambodian worker was confirmed dead at the site and he was the crane operator. Authorities are assessing structural damage caused to nearby homes. Ten residential properties close to the construction site were damaged by the falling crane, plus a number of vehicles were destroyed or damaged. Fortunately, no additional casualties have been reported among the residents of the affected homes, though several families have been displaced and are being provided temporary shelter and being supported by the construction company. Authorities have cordoned off the area to conduct a full investigation into the cause of the collapse. Preliminary assessments suggest that mechanical failure may have played a role, but further details are still being examined. The crane, which was hoisting materials for the construction building, will be the subject of an in-depth safety inspection by both local authorities and the construction company responsible for the project.       Arthroscopy

      I had an arthroscopy about 20 years ago. It takes about a month to heal. The most important part of the surgery is the rehab afterwards, You do not need an arthroscopy unless the pain is sufficient to prevent you from sleeping. As another poster has said, back off.

      From my experience blame the bully culture for the nurse shortage. It was dire during my 10 years in the NHS. Couple that with the requirement for uni degree, poor pay, heavy workload, and lack of reward and it's inevitable that few want to be nurses now. Who are the bullies- nurse managers are. Would I recommend nursing to any young person choosing a future- not a chance.
