Myanmar Woman Found Dead in Apartment After Neighbour Detects Foul Odour

A gruesome discovery was made in a Bangkok apartment when a neighbour, alarmed by a foul odour, opened the door to find a Myanmar woman brutally murdered inside. The police suspect her husband, also from Myanmar, who is now on the run. The Bang Khun Thian Police Station was alerted, on September 7, to the crime after receiving reports of a decomposing body found in an unnamed apartment located in Soi Ekkachai 83/1, Khlong Bang Bon, Bangkok. The authorities, including forensic experts and medical personnel from Siriraj Hospital, arrived promptly at the scene. The victim, identified as 39-year-old Ms. Suu Tang, a fresh shrimp vendor at Mahachai Market, was found lying face down in a pool of blood. She had sustained severe head injuries consistent with blunt force trauma, possibly inflicted with a hammer found nearby, stained with blood. The initial examination suggested that she had been dead for approximately five days. Her body was found partially unclothed, with only the lower half draped with a sarong, and showing signs of decomposition. Ms. Suu Tang had been living with her 43-year-old husband, Mr. Tun, who is also from Myanmar. Following the incident, he has reportedly fled the scene. A neighbour , Ms. Boonchu, aged 33, who lives in a room opposite the victim, told police that she had noticed a strong odour earlier in the day and initially suspected that a dead animal might be inside the room. Concerned, she alerted the apartment owner. When the they unlocked the room, they discovered the tragic scene. Ms. Boonchu further revealed that around 21:0o, four or five days prior, she overheard the couple engaged in a heated argument. After that, there had been no further sounds or sightings of the pair. It was also noted that their pet dog was missing, possibly taken by the husband when he fled. Forensic teams collected evidence from the scene, including fingerprints, bloodstained footprints, and other crucial materials. The police are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspect and are working with the investigative unit at Bang Khun Thian Police Station to expedite his capture. I'm very happy to be alive but at times it's miserable being here, a couple of members on AN are making life difficult, they are like an irritating woman, constant nagging, it's endless and really annoying. These people can't help themselves, proper pests, they are true keyboard warriors, endless trolling, they just scan the different threads looking for my comments to attack me. -

Thai gov. to tax (remitted) income from abroad for tax residents starting 2024 - Part II
If I explained it quite well I must re-read it because I admit to still being confused. Thai people have savings, why not foreigners too? Some times people just save money, they're allowed to do this and trying to trace back to find out how they saved it is punitive, pointless and the notion represents paranoia. "Ah yes, well, I saved that 20 quid from my salary ten years ago". No says the TRD, "if you saved it from salary income it's still income that must be taxed at our rate of tax"......it doesn't works that way at all. The objective of the modern day tax inspector is more about ensuring the funds were legally acquired and taxed somewhere, at the correc t rate. Their objective is NOT to try and tax every baht and satang they find down the back of the sofa and do forensic audits spanning decades, to do so erodes the concept of fairness and enhances the informal economy. The standard definition of savings, from a Western tax perspective, is tax paid income after expenses. If I sell my house and pay all my expenses and tax on that sale, in my home country, I might be required to leave it as "savings" for a period of time, in order to overcome any perception of manipulation, before the funds can truly be regarded as savings. Statute of limitations on taxes in the West is around 5, 7 or 10 years. Nobody imagines that 35 years from now, a Revenue inspector will still be asking questions about the two up two down you sold in Basingstoke nearly four decades earlier! -

Over the years
Been doing Marriage visa for over 14 years , only once previously asked where my income came from about 12 years ago. This year I was asked where my income came from and about how much it was per month. I wasnt asked to prove anything. Prelude to taxing us and guesstimating how much long stayers might be able to be milked? It was asked and written down on a scrap of paper by immigration officer not on any official form. So my question is THIS YEAR were you asked how much and where your income came from? -

Accident Claims the Life of Famous Likay Star "Maneedang"
Picture courtesy of Khaosod. "Maneedang," a well-known villainous actor from the traditional Thai theater form Likay, lost his life in a truck accident in Phichit province. The truck he was riding in lost control and collided with a tree, killing both him and the driver instantly. The accident occurred just a few kilometres away from their destination. On September 7, local police from Srisatchanalai Police Station reported that the accident took place the previous day. The crash involved a six-wheeled truck that veered off the road and slammed into a tree along Highway 101, the route connecting Srisatchanalai and Phrae. The incident happened near Ban Pang Ngiew in Srisatchanalai district. When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a blue Isuzu six-wheeler, registration number from Phichit, badly damaged after colliding with the tree. The front-left side of the truck was crushed, and two people were trapped inside the vehicle. The driver, identified as Mr. Kabin Chuenchob, and the passenger, Mr. Somporn Jansri, also known as "Maneedang," a famous Likay actor from Taphan Hin, Phichit, were both pronounced dead at the scene. Somporn, who was seated next to the driver, suffered fatal injuries when the front of the truck collapsed on impact. Behind the truck, authorities discovered various Likay performance equipment belonging to the renowned Khai Thongkham Likay troupe. Rescue workers from the Srisatchanalai area used hydraulic cutters to extract the victims from the wreckage. The bodies were taken to hospital for autopsy. Pol. Col. Siraphong Koedkunakorn, superintendent of Srisatchanalai Police Station, along with investigating officers, arrived at the scene to assess the situation. Phrom Phaithun, 57, head of the Likay troupe, recounted the tragic accident. He said they were en route to perform at Ban Mae Sam in Srisatchanalai district. His vehicle was traveling just ahead of the ill-fated truck, and they were only three kilometres away from their destination. He suddenly heard a loud crash and rushed back to find the truck had lost control and smashed into a tree. Upon seeing the severe injuries on Somporn's legs, he knew his colleague had passed away. Phrom expressed deep sorrow, as this marked the second time a fellow performer had died in front of him. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep or swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle, causing the truck to veer off the road and hit the tree. Authorities Investigate 149 Myanmar Workers Cramped in 4 Small Houses in Khon Kaen

Immigration officials emphasized that any movement of foreign workers must be reported within 24 hours, while agents responsible claimed the workers had only arrived the previous night. On September 7, police chief Col. Sarayut Kankham of Ban Haet Police Station, Khon Kaen, together with District Chief Pitanon Panya and other local officials, raided an unnumbered rental house in the Non Kluay Hom community after receiving reports that 97 Myanmar workers were residing there. Additional inspections were carried out at another rental house in the Nong Hai area of Ban Haet district, where another 52 workers were found. All 149 workers were brought together for further inspection at the Non Kluay Hom location. Upon checking their passports and entry documents, it was confirmed that all of them had valid passports and legal entry permits. Officials proceeded to verify the names against their documents, which were found to match. District Chief Pitanon Panya stated that local authorities had been notified the previous night of the workers’ arrival by the village head of Non Kluay Hom, who suspected that the group had been brought in from Myanmar, as indicated by their attire. The workers arrived in three buses and were dispersed among four locations, with 40-50 people in each. This prompted officials to conduct an immediate investigation. Upon inspecting the houses, officials noted that the first house was overcrowded with around 40 people, while another house just 100 metres away held 57 more workers. Two additional locations in a nearby village housed 38 and 14 workers. Further investigation by immigration officials is underway to verify if the workers had entered Thailand through legal channels. It was revealed that two Thai agents were responsible for bringing the workers into Thailand via the Ranong border. The workers had reportedly stayed one night in Bangkok before heading to Khon Kaen for employment. Pitanon expressed concerns over the living conditions, emphasising that housing 40-50 people in small homes violated health and safety regulations. If the workers were found to have entered legally, their agents would be required to find suitable accommodations. However, if any irregularities were discovered, the authorities would take appropriate action. The need for migrant workers, Pitanon explained, stems from certain labour shortages in jobs that Thai citizens are unwilling to take.
