What about this Samsung Washing Machine? Should one buy it?

Recommended Posts

I bought the same washer but 14 kg size for girlfriends mother.  It did not have pump.  Had cement and tile pad installed for it to be up higher than drain pipe.  It was 6690 week after Christmas.  Approx $200 for a Washer is pretty cheap.
Only 7 months old but big family and no problems.

People talk about all these fancy extra options.  Millions of people get by without these options with no problem.

Good Price.

Thanks for the link.

Actually, maybe not too late for me, since I can use this for the clothes I wear, which I do not want to put in a top-loader.

And then use the Samsung for heavy bedding.

Maybe I will order this next month, after I figure out where to put it, and whether or not I need to knock a hole in the wall to accommodate the drain pipe.

I would also wish to ensure that the supplier is reliable.

Again...Good Link!!!

Yeah I use top loader for duvets and front loader for clothing.

Dear Folks,

I have read many conflicting reports about Samsung Washing machines.

Frankly, I had been planning to buy a Hitachi machine, but then I saw a deep discount on a Samsung machine, and now I am just too tempted to "take the plunge", so to speak.

In other words, Samsung sales channel has made me an offer that I may not be able to refuse.

This is the unit, and the price is around Bt7,900.00, including installation.

image.png.bb3daed1f438246131a33424dcebfe32.png

I'm sure that is the same model I have.

It only drains down into a floor drain, there is no pump! It is gravity drain only!

Beware of that.

Yes, same as the one here.

No pump, it only drains by gravity. Make sure you have a floor drainage system ready!

I plan to do the same, about two months from today, after buying a second machine, a side/front-loader.

I changed to the 16Kgs model.

Price was Bt9990.

I think I overpaid...correct, or incorrect?

I think, possibly, I might just have gotten a great price.

I think that this model might not be the same as what you purchased?

Not sure.

But the difference is the BELTLESS drive, and a few other things....

Please post if you think the one you  purchased is actually the same or not...Tks....

image.png.a1c786f1295af8c5feb5380c1509228e.png

So...is this a decent price?

Or...NOT....?

Either way...

I will not go to the trouble of returning it to the seller..!

In the case of this machine, in question, the Samsung basic model, according to specs...

Will spin at 700 RPM.

This is definitely not the fastest.

But, is it fast enough?

I am not sure.

Too slow. Your clothes will take too long to dry.

No worries.

This machine from GE costs a lot more and spins at about 850 RPM.  (The Samsung is 700 RPM)

Also, as we mentioned earlier, we need to know the diameters of both washing machine drums in order to calculate the centripetal acceleration involved in order to make a comparison.

The above price is in Canadian dollars, probably.

We have the Samsung wa15t5260.

15kg. No idea of the price. Only that it annoyingly only drains into the floor, not a pump that pumps it up into a normal washing machine drain. Gravity drain only.

Yes.

Typical of Asian washing machines.

It has always been this way.

In the distant past, people would use very small washing machines in their single bathroom in their houses.

You should have seen the garbage washing machines coming out of the 5 Tigers back in the day, around 1975.

Very few people around these parts actually know how a washing machine should operate...meaning the type we used in the 1960s in the USA.

They haven't a FING clue, in fact.

Oh well....

As I mentioned in another Topic I posted....

I completely agreed with your assessment of the Samsung washing machines.

But, due to low cost, and due to my belief that Samsung machines may have changed for the better, I have bought one.

So, the question is:  Should I have my head examined?

The main problem with the use of internet abbreviations is that they are ambiguous due to their topology and the fact that there is no one-to-one mapping between any given abbreviation and its corresponding meaning in English.

My spouse and I do at least 1 load of clothes a day.  I would recommend both a clothes washer and a dryer.  We've used most all the brands and haven't had a problem with any of them, including Samsung.

Agree! On the subject of Samsung, my Mrs won't entertain anything else. Only the most recent air conditioner we bought was based upon a high rating at the time (LG Dual Inverter). We haven't had any problems with Samsung branded products.

YMMV, but from my experience never buy a home appliance from a compamy known for making cell phones or speakers lol.

In America that means Samsung, Bosch and LG lol

Even in Thailand?

Just curious as to why.

As far as I know, the coin operated machines I have seen never have a hot water wash cycle.

Also, most guest houses also do not offer this feature.

During the hot season, the water in most buildings, and houses, is quite warm, already.

However, in the Cold Season, the water goes down to about 15 degrees C.

image.png.b6b58d1ac5c606bea80c8ebf889ffb8c.png

Seems that this machine does have a HOT WATER Connection.

Or, maybe not.

It's difficult to tell if this manual applies to the Unit in Question, simply because there seems to be more than one P/N on the manual.

Maybe some machines have Hot water, and others do NOT have Hot water inlet.

Who knows, at this point.

I will take a look at the shop, tomorrow.

image.png.6407070b7fced5a33c0e2634d06d9c16.png

Because the clothes do not get clean in water under 40 degree, mostly need 60 degree and sometimes higher.

Maybe this depends upon the type of detergent used?

I really have no idea...

But then, there is this....

image.png.6109cd8c509a20f79cde21dcc05f1a21.png

So, as you say...

Washing at 40-degrees C or higher is better for stain removal.

I will remember that, and I will need to add hot water to the wash cycle...

Or, I will need to wash my clothes during the Hot Season, at 3:00 PM.

https://cwservicesinc.com/cold-water-does-it-clean-your-clothes/

So in conclusion, just choose the correct detergent for the water temperature you are using....

And wash happily.

Certainly, Thailand's climate will provide water at a good temperature for effectively washing clothes.

If sometimes higher than 60-degree C, then maybe we are back to the good old days....

Those were the days...

When clothes were really clean.

If in a hospital setting, then maybe...

In the future, I will wash at over 50-degrees C.

Makes sense....

My 6.5 kg Toshiba automatic top-loader lasted 15 years, one small repair in that time.  I had to replace it not because of mechanical failure but because it had been exposed to the sun every day, the control touch panel degraded.  That's on me.   Replaced it with the same updated model: B6000, same as 15 years ago.

So, I think you mean this one...

image.png.bca0069def5eda3f83274b906ad08891.png

These specs rarely say where the machines are made.

Also, if it it says made in some country, no doubt the parts are produced in many places, and mostly China.

It would be best to buy everything needed on the Japanese market.

The quality is in Japan.

Due to a very sudden and serendipitous circumstance beyond my control, I seem to have been very recently compelled to opt out of the Samsung washing-machine choice I made earlier this week.

Therefore, I am now considering upping the ante in order to buy a slightly pricier washing machine of no specific brand, as a replacement.

Therefore:

a.  If I were to increase my budget to Bt.12000.00 for a top loader, and…

b.  If I were willing to accept any brand available in the local market, then…

c.  What might be the very best top-loader I should consider?

I don’t know whether or not you have ever heard of the internet site, ‘Thaiger Live’, but here they discuss this very topic.

image.png.a6534dd85d1b1159856f06bebf085fe7.png

https://talk.thethaiger.com/topic/2221-the-8-best-washing-machines-of-2021/

I would say that their suggestions might be a bit outdated by now.

And, in light of this, I would ask the members:

If someone gave you Bt.12,000 to buy a top-loading washing machine, then what, exactly, would you buy?

Thank you, in advance….

16Kg capacity might be a real plus for some types of bulky bedding....

Gamma

Thank you, guys!

So then...

Stick with Samsung?

Actually, I now tend to agree with you, quite wholeheartedly....

But this time, I might change vendors....

After much research...I would guess that Samsung is still...

The best machine for the money...at this present time.

I just need to find the right supplier, and start over again...

What a waste of time....

16Kg model is still good.

Sort of the Goldilocks size for me.

Not too big, and not too small.

Tks for your input.

Will keep you posted...if....which I doubt...

You might be interested in this,...

By next week.

Note: After this recent purchasing experience, I am about ready to throw in the towel....but into which machine?
