Popular Post bob smith Posted August 5, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 5, 2024 genuine question. why is thailand not overflowing with asylum seekers? why are thai hotels not full of migrants that came over on boats? I mean, the weather is warmer here than in the UK isn't it? why would anyone want to claim asylum in a country that rains 300 days a year... does anyone know why Thailand is not currently full of Asylum Seekers seeking to relocate permanently in Thailand without any money in the bank? thanks. bob. 3

Because it is not financially beneficial for the asylum seekers to be relocated in Thailand. They are unlikely to be given free bed and board and even the industrious ones are unlikely to make their fortune in Thailand. 12 3

Because Thai Immigration would kick their collective butts out of the country faster than you can say, Som-Tum. Highly nationalistic, overtly racist country allowing in asylum seekers and economic refugees? Dark-skinned "Kerk" from Africa and Central Asia? Ain't happening - ever. Hell, they can't stand farangs. Pour another drink bob to get your head on straight. 1 2 2

I see them at immigration as well as at local provincial hospital where they register for free healthcare. Then if a Myanmar couple have a kid in Thailand - anchor baby. I know, I have friends from Myanmar who will be living here the rest of their lives with their little Thai citizens. Regarding illegal immigration from Myanmar? I've got to guess there are migrant labor quotas so those coming in illegally probably couldn't get a spot on the labor quota.

Popular Post NorthernRyland Posted August 5, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 5, 2024 Because Thailand isn't stupid enough to take on dependents that provide no value? The so-called "migrant crisis" could be ended tomorrow by simply closing the borders and so this is what Thailand does. 3 7 1

Something else is going on, Thailand doesn't have birth right citizenship. They give hill tribe some form of official ID but that's a special case. 1 5 1

Tesco estimate that on consumption the real population of the UK is about 80 million. It's running at a million a year now, far greater than in Thailand. Thailand could turn the boats back, UK could but don't and it's costing billions a year just to house and look after illegal immigrants. 5 1

All those people need to be sent back including their native born children. It's mental what our governments are doing to their people. 5
