Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijakarn inspects the tangled electrical and communication cables in Naklua Old Market, highlighting the need for reorganization to ensure the safety of residents and tourists.

PATTAYA, Thailand – Pattaya City officials inspected the tangled and untidy cables in Naklua Old Market, Soi 8/1 (Soi Wattanachai), on August 8 as part of an initiative to reorganize the cluttered infrastructure in the area.

Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijakarn, who led the inspection, emphasized the historical significance of the Lan Pho Naklua market, a community known for its traditional Thai-style wooden houses that preserve the unique heritage of the area.

He noted that the aging electrical and communication cables have become a growing concern due to their potential to cause dangerous short circuits.

The problem is there are so many cables and nobody knows which cable does what.

You can be 100% sure nobody labeled them.

"The reorganization plan includes the installation of new electric poles on August 15th, followed by the replacement of electrical wires on August 21st and 28th, 2024. This effort is also aimed at safeguarding the livelihoods of local salt farmers who frequent the market."
