Popular Post webfact Posted August 18, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 18, 2024 The People's Party has shown rapid growth with nearly 60,000 members and over £600,000 (25.4 million baht) in donations just seven days after its launch on 9th August 2024. The remarkable support highlights the public's confidence in the new political movement. On 18th August 2024, Sarayut Jainlak, the Secretary-General of the People's Party, disclosed that their membership number stood at an impressive 59,606 as of 16th August. Interestingly, nearly half (48%) of these members opted for lifetime membership, a stark contrast to the Move Forward Party, which has a lifetime membership rate of merely 7%. Sarayut expressed pride in this deeper level of commitment, indicating strong trust from supporters, reported Thai Rath. The influx of financial support has also been significant. Thailand's People's Party received donations totalling 25,451,968.02 baht (£600,000 approximately). These contributions came primarily through online platforms, amounting to 24,962,872.02 baht from 31,045 distinct donations, with an average donation of 804 baht. Offline donations were 489,096 baht from 431 donors, averaging 1,135 baht each. The data shows that most donations were made by small individual contributors, particularly within the 201-999 baht range. Sarayut assured that all donations comply with legal regulations, with thorough reporting to the Election Commission (EC). Additionally, donors can use their contributions, up to 10,000 baht, to reduce their tax liabilities. Looking forward, Sarayut revealed the party's ambitious goal to amass 100,000 members by the end of August 2024, aiming to match the membership numbers of the dissolved Move Forward Party. He emphasised the importance of broadening their reach across provinces to establish a nationwide presence. Currently, the majority of members are concentrated in major urban areas such as Bangkok, Nonthaburi, and Chiang Mai. The People's Party's next steps will be crucial as they work towards building a widespread and deeply-rooted political network, reflecting their growing influence and public endorsement. nikmar Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 i have a feeling that this show of support will ultimately be their demise. 1
Popular Post dinsdale Posted August 19, 2024 Popular Post Posted August 19, 2024 They will need a true majority in the House nxt election if next election is allowed by the military. The EC and the CC also need their wings clipped. This legal arm of the junta and the royalist establishment is in no way independent and is simply there to ensure the continuation of the status quo protecting the military royalist establishment. 1 4 1 1

xtrnuno41 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 MAy hope for them, they really make ALL right, as you know what happens with a tiny misstep. Did they really have to choose the name Peoples Party, short PP, or PEEPEE. Add one letter and you are out of the bizar name, like Peoples Social Party or more longer as in Peoples Social Democratic Party. Whatever, but PP? 1 1

The party they took over was called White Crow. Distinctive, if nothing else. 1
Patong2021 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 They are Thailand's hope. These are people with integrity and honesty who want to make Thailand a better place for everyone. 1

Andycoops Posted August 20, 2024 Posted August 20, 2024 Good luck to them, I sincerely hope they don't meet the fate of their predecessors as I fear there will be major public disturbances if the out of touch corrupt establishment perpetrate the usual tactics of using the equally corrupt courts.
