August 22, at 18:00 a fatal accident occurred when a motorcycle collided with a pickup truck near the Rong Po area on Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya-bound, in Bang Lamung, Chonburi Province. Rescue teams from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan were dispatched following the report.

At the scene, police found a white Toyota Revo pickup truck with Bangkok license plate, equipped with a modified enclosed cargo box. The front of the truck was damaged. The driver, Mr. Ekgarat, aged 25, was waiting to provide a statement to the authorities. Nearby, a severely damaged black ADV motorcycle with Chonburi license plate was found. Lying on the road was the body of a foreign male, estimated to be 30-40 years old, who had died from his injuries, the rider was not believed to have been wearing a helmet. Rescue workers covered the body with a white cloth, and no identification documents were found on the deceased.

According to Mr. Ekgarat, he was driving in the far-right lane when the foreign motorcyclist abruptly changed lanes to make a U-turn. Unable to stop in time, Mr. Ekgarat collided with the motorcycle. Despite immediate efforts to call for help, the victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Initial investigations were conducted by Deputy Inspector Police Lieutenant Chanda Duenpan of Bang Lamung Police Station. Authorities also reviewed dashcam footage that captured the incident clearly, which will be used as evidence in the legal process to ensure fairness for both parties.

These modified ones, obviously being used as work vehicles, driven by young males, do  whiz around quite recklessly in this area..... along with the HGVs heading to and from the port to Hwy 36 it is a dangerous areas to be on a motorcycle.

Especially with no helmet.

Wouldn't believe a word of that. Check the CCTV.

Russian..

It's another result of Thailand going for the low-hanging fruit.. Russians have few options to go anywhere else, so they have inundated Thailand, helped by very favorable visas.

The number of bigger bikes being ridden by helmet-less 30 somethings has increased greatly. The Kuwaitis go for show and noise. The Russians go for performance..

It happens so often here.

People will just cut across lanes of traffic with no signals or even a glance to make sure it's safe. Like they expect everyone else on the road to just make way for them even when they don't give any indication of what they are going to do.

No helmet and no identification ? Seriously ? Who leaves home without some kind of ID on them like a wallet with a driving license or ATM card at least.

(Unless it was "thrown" into the grass before the police arrived. Do you think anyone checked ?)

And I would love to know the speed that he was driving! Those delivery trucks have a bad reputation in my eye, they are very wreck less and drive way too fast! Possibly pressure from a boss or just want to get done early.

There are many older foreigners that have no experience of riding bikes. They then get a license here and just don't care as they think k riding a bike is easy, it isn't.

Also an experienced bike rider would always use a helmet.

So often the murder weapon is a pick-up truck.....

So often Thai as Farang  motorcycle drivers don't wear a helmet !? It could, in many cases, be a life saver !

Maybe another rental shop is going to get bad news ? Even with you holding on to his passport as security he ain't going to pay for the damaged bike.

May not be the case here but many people rent bikes and scooters which they have never used in there lives before and thai roads great place to learn
