Good, if it wasn't for tourism Thailand would be bankrupt...

lets hope they never have to close the borders again.

Expect is the magic word in Thailand.... but it is nothing more... Same sex marriage is being expected  at the end of this year, but with no signing yet and no publishing in he royal gazet it is impossible for gay couples to marry this year anymore.  No big floods are expected.. but measures are taken to prevent that Bangkok will be flooded .. Expect many tourists, but the reality will be otherwise, expect the Government  working end of August, but maybe it will be mid September, expect the digital wallet, but people will end empty handed... expect

Backpackers are probably more profitable tourists, than the Chinese and Indian tourists they are currently targeting.

I would say the locals benefit more from backpackers than the Chinese

I find it a bit disconcerting that all we ever seem to hear about is the tourist industry in Thailand.

I believe that is 20% of the economy.

It would be interesting to know what the other 80% is earning for Thailand and a few success stories to go with it.

The 1.8 trillion is the remainder of the year.

The 3.5 trillion is for the whole year.

i can see how you got confused and then all frustrated.

Glad I could clear that up for you.

Get well soon.

You must be really uninformed. As an alternative, you are just playing dumb. There is a third alternative as well, but nothing we need to post about. Let´s get down to the facts instead.

What you are insinuating, is that they have made a lot already, that is not included in the 1,8 trillion baht, as you belief is that amount is what more they will make this year, right?

That´s just pure misinformation or you spreading lies. The 1,8 trillion, is what they have generated so far this year. The article below clearly state they aim to push the annual total up to nearly 36 million tourists, which are generating, still a total, of 1,8 trillion baht. Later down it stands as of sept 1, the total of foreign arrivals reached 23 million.

Just so you get it a little bit more, because it takes a lot for things to sink in with you. Just take a minute to read before you post more misinformation.

2019 was the record year for Thailand regarding tourism revenue, which still stands. Have you read anything about that they are going to break that record with as much as you claim, as your 4 month will give 1,8 trillion more? That´s just pure garbage and foolishness.

This link:
Will give you this information: Thailand Tourism Statistics Statistics: Market Data Report 2024 (worldmetrics.org)

  • The revenue generated from international tourism in Thailand reached $60 billion in 2019.

Do you really think that the record year 2019, that reached a total of about 2 trillion, will be almost same as your fake 1,8 trillion the last 4 month this year?

Get a grip! You see, you didn´t clear up anything, more than creating more lies and misinformation.

After that, I am in no need to get well. Here it seems like you clearly missed you doctors appointment.

Thailand is on track to witness a dramatic uptick in foreign arrivals, targeting an impressive 12.2 million visitors in the final four months of 2024. This expected influx aims to push the annual total to nearly 36 million tourists, generating an anticipated 1.8 trillion baht in revenue, according to the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT).

TAT Governor, Thapanee Kiatphaibool, attributes this optimistic forecast to several key factors. The visa-free scheme, an array of festive events, and the resumption of international flights, now at 82% of their 2019 level, are all set to give tourism a significant boost. As of September 1, foreign arrivals have already reached 23 million, with substantial numbers coming from East Asia—particularly China—followed by Europe and South Asia.

However, the road ahead isn't without its hurdles. Thapanee noted that fierce competition from other Asian destinations, global economic unpredictability, and geopolitical conflicts pose significant risks. Despite these challenges, the domestic tourism landscape looks promising, with TAT projecting 72.5 million local trips and a revenue injection of 335 billion baht over the next four months.

In a strategic move to capture the Chinese market, TAT recently signed a letter of intent with Nanjing Tuniu International Travel Service on August 30. This partnership aims to attract Chinese tourists, especially independent travellers, through data sharing and joint participation in travel events. Nonglux Yooyendee, Director of TAT’s Shanghai office, highlighted ongoing collaborations with Tuniu, citing summer camp trips for Chinese students as an example.
