Years ago some of my older friends had a daily care/check in circle

Just a text or message OK status

2 of my brothers and I play the same starting word on Wordle daily and compare and discuss our results each day, usually through Messenger texts, but sometimes through calls. Failure to post one's daily puzzle gets a phone call.

Not sure what happens when you are at the nursing home stage

You basically just sit in your room most of the time. The rest of the day is going to the cafeteria to eat, bingo, and if you're lucky in a better facility they do community outings occasionally.

If you're not in a care facility at that stage or on your own with no carer you're pretty much sitting in your room, hobbling out for food, or getting what food you can delivered. What else is there, it's not hard to figure out.

   Everyone dies .

I would rather die on my own , I certainly wouldn't want someone there watching me die

it's usually more about someone hoisting you to the toilet so you don't cra p the bed

Yes, I really dont' appreciate when my gf recoils in horror when I let rip. It's very off-putting.

Depends what's wrong with you, my Dad had Parkinson's needing hoisting about, no quality of life, my mum has dementia, currently in the time shifting stage, sadly you don't just get old and die

Perhaps you don't understand my situation. My GF is Thai. Relationships between old Westerners and younger Thais are as common as traffic cones.

You're right, it would be impossible in Oz except for some very rich people with trophy wives.

there's more wisdom in that type of setup.

because the man is more financially established if he's older.

and maybe there are fewer power struggles between couples when the man is older than when couples are the same age.

the west has brainwashed everyone to think they should marry someone the same age.

thailand has it right.

How are they getting along? Is bringing them to Thailand an option? I'm thinking that may be a last option for my parents if they simply run out of money.

My mom is in assisted living now, it's pretty nice, but she does not want to be there. My father is still living in his house, but moving in the other direction. He could not afford a nice care home.

Being a zillionaire is great, too.  But not all of us have the dosh, nor a wife that's worth the trade-off.

I, too would rather be in a great marriage.  But I'd rather be single than still married to my ex.  She wasn't a bad woman.  Just not on the same page and consequently, never satisfied with life.  Turns out, 35 years after the divorce, she's still not married.  So it's not me that caused her unhappiness.  I was just there.

Ha ha, maybe she preferred living alone after her experience with you. 😂

Under normal circumstances woman want a relationship with someone of similar age, they are as fussy as men, look at internet dating and the age ranges they specify

People are brainwashed by societal expectations.

I had a lot of money arguments and problems with exes.

Women in their 20s want it all ... lavish vacations, etc .... it takes time to save money.

Even in Thailand that is now usually the case, absolutely.

Yep some people do, also Dr John McDougall, but i think it's a minority. Visit some care homes see all the people in there

Too late for mine. I would get them over here earlier rather than later, it very quickly becomes too late

Lots are lacking in minerals. Low Vitamin D and magnesium is linked to dementia.

Mine looked after me for my 2 'immobile' months after my 'hit and run' last year, moved a mattress into the living room to sleep on the floor near me. I couldn't walk or sit up or stand up on my own, so was sleeping on the sofa. Waited on me, stayed with me in case I needed something, went to get snacks and drinks for me from 7-11.

Back in 2018 I got colon C. My lady basically nursed me for 2 solid years day and night until recovery. I just happened to receive an inheritance after it was all over. In appreciation I bought her a new car from the Toyota showroom. I also married her so she can receive some of my pension (for life) when I'm gone.

She was there when I needed it most and don't know what I would have done had she not stepped up.

I consider myself lucky.

Why, would they refuse with an escort? Just get them on the plane, wheeled through the airport and direct transfer to one of those homes in Chiang Mai or Hua Hin. The facility handles the visa and payments deduct from the home country account, or put on a card which gets paid off. A hassle for sure though.

The only thing she will be taking care of, is emptying your bank account.

Personally, I would accept that if she also makes me happy.

What's the alternative? Dying with lots of money?

Running out before you die. You don't know what kind of care you can afford because you don't know how long you will live.

I am betting the nagging marrieds were in the same age bracket. Not much point to that, both are equally vulnerable.

My GF is 23 years younger than me.

I asked her once what she would do, if I started going poopy in my trousers. Her response was " No problem. I can do".

Won't be problem, she will have in diaper.
