An accident on Bang Na-Trat Road heading into Bangkok, on the afternoon of September 7, claimed the life of one man and left four others injured when a speeding pickup truck lost control and overturned near Khlong Tamru, Chonburi. The incident occurred shortly after the weigh station.

Rescue teams from the Mangkon Chonburi unit rushed to the scene to find a black pickup truck flipped on its roof beside the road. Four male passengers, all suffering injuries and abrasions, were quickly transported to Chonburi Hospital for treatment. Inside the vehicle, 36-year-old Thanapol Artsanjorn was found crushed beneath the truck, having died from head injuries.

Witnesses reported that the truck was traveling at high speed in the fast lane before losing control, spinning out, and vaulting over the road divider, resulting in the deadly flip.

Rescue teams coordinated with local police and a medical examiner to investigate the scene and gather evidence as they continue to determine the exact cause of the accident.

Over-inflated racing slicks?

Over inflated driving ability and massive dose of stupidity.

Luckily the driver killed no other innocents.

I also wonder how many Policemen (highway police or otherwise) the pickup truck driver passed, without them so much as raising an eyebrow.

Most Thai drivers are perfectly good drivers - but its the higher incident of outright lunatics that make the roads more dangerous for everyone.

Higher road fatality stats are primarily motorcyclists - usually killing themselves without a helmet - but the stats for 4 wheeled vehicles show elevated road fatalities compared to Europe, a lot of that is down to road design etc but its also a higher number of morons driving recklessly who are the primary contributors to these fatality sats...

Where is could be guessed that in Europe approx 0.5% of drivers are dangerous idiots, its closer to 2-5% here..  and that 2-5% seem completely un-policed.

Note: Thats just anecdotal - visual observation - but it seems to hold true that the lunatics on the road here are most certainly not in the majority, yet they get away with their dangerous antics as the police seem too lazy to be bothered to catch them (red light jumpers, crazy erratic drivers, speeding etc).
