Although I am not a fan of Harry , he went to a fancy dress party dressed as a Nazi because his friends called him a Nazi because of his German  grandparents .

It was a fancy dress party and one of his friends sold the photo to the media

Why would any doctor ?    Anyway  the oath doesn't seem to have stopped them going on strike in the UK . or reducing the number of appintments they accept , both of which are hardly beneficial to patients.    But they are seem to be happy now that hey have had a wage increase , albeit at the expense of pensioners who have lost their winter fuel allowance, I guess hypothermia doesn't count

I believe that having less patients per day is more quality time for each patient thus promoting correct and caring diagnosis. Too often patients are treated as inorganic blobs on an assembly line.

Fixed whining.

See what was and is in petrol.  No one complaining  about it, as it is a joy (sometimes not) to drive.

Still lead is used and spread by fuel. Lead kills the brain, so thats why we have crazy situations?

"6 mL of tetraethyllead is enough to induce severe lead poisoning"

Once ordered turmeric, got an email to send it back. Substance was in it and was not allowed.

It was allowed but they changed the rule on limits and they got lower.

I checked for the substance and found out, I could find it anywhere in food for all my life.

THey say I can not peanut butter, eggs, red meat, just a few. It causes cancer, they say.

Thailand is using a lot of sorts of -cides in agriculture. Some are already forbidden in western world for long time.

Eat you vegetables, young man, as it is good, NOT.

It is ok to drink water and eat, all loaded with nano plastic. That is ok !

It is ok, especially Thailand, to inhale dust particles due to burning fields

Black smoke of detuned diesels, thats ok.

Maybe put that doc in a a phone booth with it, to make him aware he is not doing anything about that.

If you are serious I would caution you. I have known a lot of addicts. My advice is to watch out for this kind of attitude. It's very indicative of addict behavior. Doing things without regard for the welfare or happiness of others.

Could someone lend me a woosh parrot, I'm fresh out?

It's interesting how times have changed.

When I was young everybody was smoking. And we made jokes about gay guys.

Now if you are gay or any other of that alphabet soup then you are preferred in those progressive organizations and companies.

And if anybody smokes, he's the devil.

Can we please take it easy. Live and let live and all that?

yes indeed, tables turn

I have never understood, apart from tax revenue, why the various governments do not simply outlaw the production, marketing, distribution and consumption of tobacco products, with suitable penalties. Problem solved, end of.

As a non smokerI think it is a brilliant idea long overdue

There would be a long line of reformed smokers who would agree even moreso hey,       and the amputees too.

Years ago I visited a dear old mate in acute aged care hospital with emphasema and he barely had the energy to cough.

EXTREMELY disturbing to watch.😭

He stank of cigaretes and had to go outside to smoke and they had previously resuscitated him 5 times but he then declared a DNR,  Do Not Resuscitate. I said my goodbyes.

He died a week later.

But; punishing cigarette addicts heavily with fines for smoking where they shouldt, is a more civilized response than the proposal..

Hope at least some smokers have taken note of the 5 pages so far, and my above encounter.

Smoking is a very sad, sick, annoying, deadly, adicted scenario.

I wonder if the Major General doctor has any idea of, or even remembers the Hippocratic Oath, or even took that Oath?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hippocratic_Oath

I swear by Apollo Healer, by Asclepius, by Hygieia, by Panacea, and by all the gods and goddesses, making them my witnesses, that I will carry out, according to my ability and judgment, this oath and this indenture.

To hold my teacher in this art equal to my own parents; to make him partner in my livelihood; when he is in need of money to share mine with him; to consider his family as my own brothers, and to teach them this art, if they want to learn it, without fee or indenture; to impart precept, oral instruction, and all other instruction to my own sons, the sons of my teacher, and to indentured pupils who have taken the Healer's oath, but to nobody else.

I will use those dietary regimens which will benefit my patients according to my greatest ability and judgment, and I will do no harm or injustice to them.[6] Neither will I administer a poison to anybody when asked to do so, nor will I suggest such a course. Similarly I will not give to a woman a pessary to cause abortion. But I will keep pure and holy both my life and my art. I will not use the knife, not even, verily, on sufferers from stone, but I will give place to such as are craftsmen therein.

Into whatsoever houses I enter, I will enter to help the sick, and I will abstain from all intentional wrong-doing and harm, especially from abusing the bodies of man or woman, bond or free. And whatsoever I shall see or hear in the course of my profession, as well as outside my profession in my intercourse with men, if it be what should not be published abroad, I will never divulge, holding such things to be holy secrets.

Now if I carry out this oath, and break it not, may I gain for ever reputation among all men for my life and for my art; but if I break it and forswear myself, may the opposite befall me.[5]

But those same people should be allowed to cause physical harm to others, all while you protect them, right?
Feh.

I realise these people don't like smoking, but why don't they get this mad about pollution?  They must be glaring at a smoker smoking outside (likely harming no one) while they themselves are breathing in all kinds of pollution from Thailand's air.

If they aren't wearing some sort of filtering mask all the time while outside, they would have to be quite unhinged to complain about people smoking.

THAILAND - On September 8, 2024, it was reported that Major General Dr. Reienthong Nanna, Director of Mongkutwattana Hospital, posted on his Facebook page, stating:

"I plan to repurpose the 'public phone booths' that were donated for COVID-19 screening during the 2020-2022 pandemic. These booths are no longer in use and would otherwise become waste.

I will turn them into an innovation called 'Smoke Rooms' for those who break the no-smoking rule at Mongkutwattana Hospital. Smokers can smoke as much as they want inside these rooms, but the smoke will remain contained. It won’t disturb others or harm public health, only the smoker's health, reported Thai Rath.

The cigarette smoke will continuously circulate inside the 'Smoke Room' until it's fully consumed. The door, controlled by an automatic smoke sensor, will unlock only after the smoke has cleared, allowing the smoker to exit.

This ensures that smokers inhale 100% of their own cigarette smoke, maximizing the experience of each cigarette they smoke. Not a single bit of smoke will escape to disturb or harm anyone else.

While this 'Smoke Room' innovation may seem harsh, it ensures no one smokes inside Mongkutwattana Hospital. If someone avoids our hospital because of this strict anti-smoking measure, I would be more than happy.

Dr. Reienthong also mentioned he would name this 'Smoke Room' the 'Hitler Room.' (ห้องฮิตเลอร์)

He warned that anyone caught smoking selfishly in the hospital, harming others, will face public shaming by hospital volunteers and 'Black Hooded' individuals. He emphasized that this is not a joke and that they are serious.

—September 8, 2024, at 10:35 AM.

Note: The 'Smoke Room' or 'Hitler Room' will be showcased to the public once it is ready, as a deterrent for non-smokers."

Smoking kills and maimes in many way anyway.  Get rid of them quicker before they inflict their filthy residues on onhers.

"Smoking is a dying habit" . Take that anyway you want.

driving a car, motorcycle, or bicycle kills too, consuming alcohol kills too, eating food and fruit  and meat grown with chemicals will kill too.. In fact everything you do will kill you and even if you live healthy , life will kill you, but put people in gaschambers for something is over the top

My only problem with this is that chain smokers may never be able to leave. How will they eat? drink? urinate? etc.. This is a problem as the doors will only open after the smoke is cleared. Chain smokers are in for a very tough day in these new telephone boxes.

I have seen both polite smokers, and a lot of smokers who are jerks.

Any smoker who thinks that the people around them should not be offended by their noxious

smoke, are the jerks. They like to be up wind, or near door ways, etc.

I think that most of you posters know who i am talking about.

I like this doctors idea, of a non vented room for the smokers.

Just put a small cubicle between the room and the exit, that way people can go in and out

freely, and only their foul breath and stinky clothes are to be tolerated.

He was  sarcastic. The intent was to attract attention to the selfishness of smokers.

It is frustrating for a physician treating  heart and lung diseases to  be confronted by idiots who smoke inside and near the entrances of hospitals.

Good. Cigarette smokers who let their smoke stink up the air that other people have to breathe are self centered pigs. Secondhand smoke is a proven risk to non smokers. And THIS IS A HOSPITAL! Smoking in or near a hospital is a particularly heinous  type of calloused indifference. So you smokers have an addiction and I sympathize. But be considerate and responsible and take it where you don't bother anyone. Are heroin addicts allowed to shoot up in public and splatter their blood all over others? Are they allowed to sit at a bar or a table or stand outside a hospital and shoot up? Why not? The only reason cigarettes are still legal is the amount of money that is made by ultra rich megacorporations and the money they line the pockets of politicians with while knowing they are  making people get sick and die. Cigarette pigs deserve to be locked in a small room and quarantined with their disgusting habit. I mean, you could switch to vaping which will still kill you but at least it won't stink. Now a humorous comparison - suppose someone with extreme flatulence sat down at your dinner table and farted silently and continuously throughout the meal? Nothing wrong with it except that it is sickening, offensive, and inconsiderate. Just like cigarette pigs. Oink.

The underlying reason is the billions and billions of dollars that are made by the tobacco industry, which through the tobacco lobbies finds its way into the pockets of the politicians who are supposed to represent us and who refuse to pass any restrictive legislation.

I don't need a special room to smoke my evil weed.

I simply book a room at a Samui resort and smoke the place up, just to annoy the fickle locals. 😎

So you're a self centered inconsiderate malicious wiseɑss. Tell me where and when you're next there and I will show up and personally annoy you. Let's see, lighting up pack after pack of matches seems like it would work.

Not any better back in the USA, try getting ANY appointment in several months, God forbid you need a specialist.

When was the last time you were treated there? I've seen a range of specialists from ear nose and throat, to urologists, wound specialists, vascular surgeon, oncologist, dermatologist, and a new primary care, all within 1 to 4 weeks out from my initial request. I mean the US sucks in a lot of ways, but you are wrong. What you describe happens to some people but not everyone. You have to take charge and make the necessary phone calls, but usually any direct referral is processed right away.
