What really grinds your gears in Pattaya

How could anyone that sees Pattaya 2nd Road with 2 lanes of busy traffic say "let's take up half of one lane of traffic by walking 3 abreast, they'll go around us". And that's what happened, car veered into next lane to avoid them, bike following car couldn't see them

They seem to lack situational awareness.  Like when they watch loud videos or have loud conversations on speakerphone on a crowded bus or in a restaurant.  I don't think it even occurs to them how rude that is.

And it just happened right in front of me, Indians waking 3 abreast on 2nd road just took out a bike Grab rider in front of Bodega bar (all okay).

Why would anyone walk 3 abreast on 2nd road. Grab driver rode off but I would have been asking for at least 1000 baht as he dropped his bike so must have had some scratches.

For me, a similar annoyance:  Entire families that stop in the middle of a crowded sidewalk for a protracted family meeting.  They don't seem to care who is trying to walk past them.  They just stand there like it's your problem.

Pattaya City Government is not easy.

We went to report a 3 foot base erosion under the Main road to Cozy Beach (Kasetsin).  You need to fill out a form, present your ID, telephone number, submit or print photos of problem and intersection so they can locate problem area (No Google GPS coordinates accepted)?.

Sidewalks that are broken, have 1 foot holes and drops from erosion for months, have become trip Hazards and I have to watch others stumble over the unlevel sidewalk paver stones.

I believe there is an email address, for City hall will try next time.

Trash all around the Blue Trash Barrels.

One lane each direction on 2nd road (Between Pattaya 3rd and South Pattaya road.)

Besides all this I really enjoy Pattaya/Jomtien and the gradual improvements to make it a "World Class Travel Destination"

Yes I had this just last week in Australia however I think they were Nepalese not indian

All on the footpath in the City in a huddle meaning I couldn't get past.

So I JOINED them ,just stand in their CIRCLE and smile and join in !!

Just the look on everyone's face like a shocked look as they stop talking to look at you lol is worth it

AQI is around 150 this morning, just like yesterday morning. Another day without a morning walk because it's too unhealthy imo. The combination of poor air quality and heavy traffic is becoming increasingly frustrating.

Lately, I've been considering moving to Bangkok. The air quality is similar, it's a more convenient starting point for travel, and the rapid transit system makes it easier to get around. Bangkok also offers more decent park options for morning walkers, something sorely lacking around Pattaya imo.

Yes I agree

Only a few weeks ago I stayed in Bangkok and done the Green mile walk through Lumpini park over to Benjamitti or whatever the name is

Beautiful walk

Great public  transport to everywhere as well

I didn't mean to imply that these groups are from any particular country.  Germans, Russians..... they could be from anywhere.

This same went on for a week in my last hotel! In hall way to the rooms. During day and night. Some nights till 2am. I left, no need to get upset. They are what they are.

PS. Yes - they were Indians...

Bloody electronic food ordering kiosks.

just went to KFC in Central mall basement and you can now only use those stupid electronic order machines. They've even taken all the menus off the wall and taken the cash register away so you can't order at the counter like McDonalds.

I thought ok time to get over myself and use the machine and it gave me 6 options to pay, none of which I had, i.e. I only had cash (well I didn't see cash as an option if it is there)

Walked out in disgust. I guess that's it for KFC in Pattaya for me. I wonder how much their sales drop in November?

How that is a Pattaya or even a KFC specific problem when fast food restaurants all over the world are moving towards that?

Because it was in a KFC in Pattaya that only just switched over thus causing my rant?

Good news is I went to KFC in Big C Pattaya Klang today and thankfully they still only take cash so I won't starve 😀

Selfish dimwits ignoring no smoking signs in bars and restaurants.

If I was eating in a restaurant and someone lit up, they would be in serious trouble believe me.

The weather! This humidity is the worse I've had on Jomtien beach for 6 years at this time.

I've to cut my 9km walk in half - no energy...

The weird thing is it only shows 77% (weather channel) but feels like 90.

I wondered why someone would be in serious trouble..would you call the police, your mum , would you physically assault the smoker or give them a tongue lashing ?

I find it strange that popular sports bars never seem to have enough staff during big events?

I was at Witherspoons yesterday while the UFC was on. Went to order breakfast and waitress said "food will take a really long time" whatever that means. Ended up going to Sports Hub instead where not as busy but at least they could handle the service

I have found that to be a general problem here.... many eateries seem not to handle a lot of customers very effectively. That said, Pa Boons really spits them out, but fails at bringing all orders at a similar time. A steamed fish will always be 10 minutes after other quick wok dishes.

Indian tourists walk 4-5 abreast on the small Soi's. Cars and bikes beep their horns behind them and they just ignore them and make them go around.

Where does this arrogance come from?

Obviously never spent time on ships or shipyards??

Keppel Fels yard in Singapore employs Indians in their thousands the majority 90%+ are fine fellows, but, their supervisors want to be recognised as a boss, a Capo, a King.  Had problems with these bosses installing/fitting gear and wanting it signed 'off' before any FAT is done.

Spent 2 years in Samsung Shipyard, Geoje Island doing Commissiong and FAT for 6th Generation drill ships were some Indian officers would arrive to observe during 'sea trials' (Enough said).

If you think Indians are treated badly by GoGo bar and beer bar owners in Pattaya you do not want to see what the Koreans owners or staff did, as for the Pilipino hostesses my mates and I thought they were cruel.  But, their answers to our questions were same, "You not know what they want us do to them and friends"............  Nuff Said.

Sailed with Indian crew and found 99.9% of them great guys until they are out of their bubble.  Bit like Brits/Ozzies  who go abroad for the first time.

PS, I am an old Brit who last worked in the UK in 1976.  From that date worked overseas all my life, retiring Saudi, 2015 so seen somethings, do not get me going about West Africa 🤐

The other thing that is annoying/dangerous is Thai driving, slow at pulling away from junctions and slow/wrong lane when turning into a soi

Agree totally! Been here 30+ years and you'd think I'd be used to Thai drivers.......but I'm not! You have to drive defensively 95% of the time and keep your head on a swivel looking out for anything that might be headed your way, epecially the uninsured motorcycle riders! I could go on and on, but I won't, anybody who's driven here any amount of time knows what I'm talking about.

Where does this arrogance come from? Why haven't we heard of more tourists being hit as some of the car and bike riders I've seen have gotten really angry at them.

So what really grinds your gears....

Shifting from neutral to first without using the clutch does it for me.

at least they told you up front, so you had a choice to move on to another place. Credit for that. Reliable staff always been a problem, and it might been a few who did not come in that morning

The hardest thing in tourist places is to keep your staff
