Why that presumption?  Is farting or nose-picking or fanny scratching an offence ?

Not sure about the specifics here but back in blighty "driving without due care and attention"  is a very broad and virtually all encompassing allegation

...but certainly would not include those three activities.

  • Living and driving in Thailand for many years it is the first time i heard of a foreigner summoned to court for a minor traffic offence

  • Why don't you find an English-speaking lawyer and ask him to check? There are no details in your post how is anybody expected to comment

  • Sound strange. Go to court for a traffic violation? Were you driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs? Were you involved in an accident? DUI is taken seriously and might lend you in jail a

They said I was driving erratically and couldn't answer questions. They asked me to come to the station to take tests. I didn't have any alcohol in my blood but they made me take a pee test, which I failed, that's what it was.

So you had drugs in your urine and were caught driving under the influence of drugs? Surprise, surprise, that's a criminal offence, pal. You've now got a criminal record in Thailand.

So you got caught doing drugs ... you could have led with that.  Is it considered a felony ?   Which drug, and I'm assuming not ganga, or a very high level of, since ganga (medicinal) is legal.

Since they stated, 2 yr probation, then there is definitely a record of the arrest/conviction.   Whether it stays local or not, unknown.   But you are definitely in someone's data base.

Masturbating in the privacy of your own car is an offence, is it?

If in a public place, in view of others, it is.

The OP was caught doing something so, if he was masturbating, it would appear it wasn't in privacy

I believe that may be the case but was also told its not a spent conviction so will not appear in a background check, which is what they check for. Things like warnings, fines and so on don't appear, that's what I was told but I have no idea. I didn't go to prison, I just paid a fine. It was done in like 2 minutes at the court then I went home. One friend said its far too small, don't worry but I have no idea as I have never had anything like this happen before.
