What is a Punkah Wallah?

Sometimes, when it gets too hot.....

I send a wire to India....to find a Punkah Wallah to come here to Chiang Mai, in order to fan me.

I suggest the same for you.

When it's really HOT here in Thailand, ....

A good Punkah Wallah can make all the difference.

You can also talk to them, free of charge, if you have a credit card, and call the Credit Card Service Center numbers.....because....

This is the best way to find a Punkah Wallah, in India, without even trying....

I have called them MANY TIMES....

English....NOT TOO GOOD.....

And, they NEVER ADMIT IT.....

But, they are GREAT at fanning....

Try it....!

Easier still pick one up on pattaya walking Street!

😂😬🥶😳👍

I bought a small ceiling fan off ALIEXPRESS ,there's quite a few reviews for them on Youtube, all good

they don't look much but could be just what you're looking for, 3 speeds ,and it also has an excellent

led light on it, it has to be fixed into one of those screw fittings ,easy to do and they are very cheap B500,

Just search small ceiling fans on Aliexpress ,mine delivered in a week, also has a remote

Interesting. Getting much relief from it? For example, if you were sat a couple metres below and off to the side, would it ruffle your hair? ... assuming you have some that is. 🙂

Kinda get the impression they'd be about as much use as tits on a kipper when the heat kicks in properly here.

No ,they are not going to ruffle your hair , but the OP was not looking for a fast powerful fan , and I think

that would do him nicely ,moves  the air about ,its quiet , cheap ,has remote ,and the LED light is very good,

3 speeds, 3 settings for the light ,and is easy to install ,just buy one of those screw in light fittings, and fix

it in place of your ceiling  light ,

You are talking about those very large big blades fans i guess? i have a ceiling fan like pedestal fan that rotates

Called an orbital fan I think. Theyre great. Are they slower than a normal pedestal fan?

I can tell you what not to do…

I have large 54” ceiling fans in all the bedrooms and bathrooms on remote control modules I bought the remotes from AliExpress.  The modules are in the roof void.

They have 3 speeds and a timer 1,2,4 or 8 hours.

Gradually the low and medium speeds have failed so they only work on high. I don’t want to cut the roof to repair them.

The bathroom ones are fine on high, you set them for 1 or 2 hours after showering and the room and towels are dried for you.

Kenny ...  this is my 9 Watt  16"   fan ....   it's no noise,  cost  1.5 baht a day to run,   160 baht on Shopee.

I run it 24/7 ......      best fan I ever bought ...  the cheapest anyway.

I already bought the other one but send me the link if you have it please. Might be able to use it somewhere else. You sure its 16"? That's a biggish fan. No guard? Is it rechargeable or direct connect?

Usually when you lose speed control its a failed capacitor. Sometimes in the wall controller, others have the cap in the cowl over the fan motor. Normally one screw to loosen and cowl will slide up and out the way. Make sure you turn the breaker off of course. Sometimes they switch the neutral and there is still an active wire there. Usually a little black square block looking thing with two wires on it. Easy to get and easily replaced. That's if they still use capacitors these days and not some electronic wizardry

Let us know if it works well

Got it this morning and set it up. So far very happy with it if it stays this quiet. No remote control in the box, only via the app on the phone. At first I couldn't install it said only avail in mainland China so on the app set location to same and good as gold. This one was around 1700 baht and Xiaomi which is usually a good brand. There are others a lot cheaper for around 600 baht may do the same job. My main concern was ease of cleaning (I know our air con fans usually start losing efficiency after 4 or 5 months / need cleaning) and low / quiet power and this one seems to tick all boxes 🙂 Be excellent for night time and sleeping and has a few smart features like timers (to turn off / on after a while if required), sleep mode, oscillates side to side of course. Other maybe a small thing is a small foot print. Kids are always brushing past the fans and knock the heads in the wrong direction. This one just tall and slim

Hi Sir,

You added your comment/images in the wrong place when quoting me...and may have done this regularly in the past.

But...NO PROBLEMO....because...I used  to ALWAYS do the very same thing.

But then....the guys here really got on my case, so very much, that I had to begin toeing the line.

Still, I miss those days when I used to post my comments inside of others' comments.

I can no longer do this, however, in the interests of HARMONY on TV....

Still, nice set of two images...which..I think are more appropriate for a STEREOSCOPE, or something....
