I think being impressed by what model phone you're using is a thing of the past. They all look so similar now, and all have such high specs, that nobody really cares anymore. I can't even remember the last time somebody asked me which phone I'm using.

And as for Lock Screen and Home Screen.........who sees them except the User.

Both plain black for me, makes the icons easier to see.

BANGKOK, Sept 20 (TNA) – Apple’s iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro officially went on sale in Thailand on Friday, with eager customers lining up at stores across the country to be among the first to get their hands on the new devices.

At the Apple Store in IconSiam, a Vietnamese customer was the first in line, having arrived in the early morning hours. The Central World branch saw particularly high enthusiasm. The honor of receiving the first iPhone 16 in Thailand went to a Myanmar national working in the country, who had pre-ordered the device and chose to pick it up at the Central World branch at 8 a.m.

Long queues formed at various retail locations, including AIS and True-Dtac stores, as well as authorized resellers like iStudio.

The iPhone 16 series, touted as Apple's first smartphone designed specifically for artificial intelligence or “Apple Intelligence,” allows users to generate text and images with ease using AI-powered suggestions.

However, Apple supply chain analyst Ming-Chi Kuo estimates that pre-orders during the first weekend reached about 37 million units, down 12.7% compared to the iPhone 15 launch.

The decline is primarily attributed to lower demand for the Pro models, as Apple Intelligence is currently only available in English, affecting demand in markets like China where competitors offer AI services in the local language.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 16 began on Friday, September 13, in over 58 countries, including Thailand. The launch day turnout in Thailand demonstrates continued strong interest in Apple's latest offering.

So much for all that outrage about the Apple Ad LOL

How soon they forget the morals that they profess?

They want to get prepared for the digital wallet! Perhaps they could use the 10k Baht to pay that pos off. Lol.

Btw, most of them use the devices just to take selfies and show off.

If they'd really use all the capabilities of a smartphone nowadays, they wouldn't change it so often. To change your phone, set up your personal system preferences, reinstall, and set up all your apps, the credentials, and two-factor authentications for accounts, wallets, or anything can be a time-consuming nightmare.

Even with a backup.

I avoid it as long as possible.

The scam, to force you to get a new device by rejecting the use of some apps due to not installable OS or app updates anymore, is appearing more frequently.

Did they happen to have something called humor in your country?

I have no idea as I haven't really lived there since 1992. I believe that having a sense of humour in the UK is banned now and has replaced by wokeism.

Political jokes however are permitted, which is one reason why the Tories lost and Labour won.

I was not impressed by the 16. When I viewed it, it was practically the same size as the older model I have. For me, it was not worth getting.

If it is just the look that counts for you, then you don’t need a smartphone. For most people it is what’s inside that counts.

Exactly ...... Are 99% of the people in the world sheep with no brains and unable to think though what getting a new phone means?

As you have written very clearly.....Getting a new phone in a tremendous burden, and involves huge amounts of work to transfer info.....Is a nasty experience.......And not a single peep from the media about this......EVER... 100% .....ZERO......

Most of these idiots are getting some set up right in the shop, where they purchased the new "pos".

With a newly created Apple ID or a new Google account right on the spot.

Like "idiot#987654321

[email protected], or [email protected].

Just to make the basic functions work somehow,

and the customer is happy.

The "pos" is sending all the personal data anywhere into all those "super-safe" clouds.

Aka, surveying them, even in the local restroom, to provide "personalized" offers and "experiences".

They annoy you with 12-factor authentications, fingerprints, and KYCs, only to make sure it's really "your" data they're collecting.

Only for your own safety.

My 13-year-old son was asked for KYC, an ID card, photos, etc., for a stupid gaming platform.

"Safety" and "secure" are the most abused terms in present times.

I'm waiting for some kind of "DNA" authentication to achieve complete control and transparency, but only for the surveyors.

A chip "implementation" wouldn't be so bad.

At least the advantage is that it would save many "screen-staring" guys from stumbling around and many other accidents...

What goes around, comes around.

Sadly that is not true   most of the people are more concerned with showing off  to their "friends" on facebook etc.

Its worse than that , they actually covertly send what is basically malware to the older phones via "updates"  which will slow ones phone down further encouraging the purchase of a new model    They call it planned obsolescence, this was exposed a few years ago, however when called out over this they insisted the malware was essential as slowing things down would increase or prolong  the life of the unaccusable  battery

I would not have one given to me , even if they paid me

Never mind. Coming soon you can hand over lots of your money for something you basically already have. I guess you can show off for a while with your new phone until you have to fork out even more money for the next NEW Phone.

Its a perfect example of a lot  that's wrong with the world.   Stupid people queuing up to buy something they don't need. with money they don't have.

Other things that I will never understand ;   people  queuing up to watch movies as soon as they are released  and  the idiots who used to queue up to buy new cars in the UK at midnight  on the 31st of july so that they would be the first ones to get the new registration letter which came out on the 1st of August.  The to$$ers even used to take part in a midnight drive past parade to show off ( to each other )  normal people were fast asleep in bed,

It started to pi$$ off the car manufacturers  and eventually the date on which the new registrations was changed to twice a year to even out the demand

Did you see the furore surrounding those new Prime drinks ?

People were fighting each other in shops for them, traveling 100's of miles to buy some and paying hundreds of pounds for them on E-bay when they first came out , now you can buy as many as you want of them for 2 quid in ASDA

         I didn't hear about that one but I don't doubt you , and I can't sat I'm surprised

Apparently even the first smartphones that came onto the market had a greater computing power than that used to send the Apollo rockets to the moon.  So what your average Somchai needs one for is totally beyond me as I  doubt any of them progress  far from face book or Tiktok,   Likewise in the UK  there is little need for such processing power on the average council estate.

Motorcycles are another shining example,  some of the larger ones develop as much power as a factory prepared GP race bike, controlling one is well beyond the capability of even the most experienced rider, and with all the speed limits and speed cameras in place these days what exactly is the point of a 1000cc machine when these days one half the size would suffice for anybody and a skilled trained rider would easily  run rings round the poseurs that buy them  on a 250

Give it about a week and then go onto the official Apple flagship store on Lazada and order one and have it delivered. No stress.

how hard is it for me to do the data transfer myself? Can I assume years of photos will transfer to the new model?

It's not about affordability. This is all special/rich/important etc. signaling.  It's great marketing that rakes in billions from idiots who are completely brain washed.

I’m going to be one of the brainwashed idiotic sheep when I get back to Australia next week. The worldwide data e-sim in my ipad was fantastic on my recent trip through Europe for stays in Airbnbs with hopelessly slow internet, and I need a new phone that’s also e-sim capable to avoid the nightmare of having to sort out a new sim card for each new country I visit. The pro model’s 5x optical zoom’s a bonus. Would like the max version for my failing close vision, will have to see if it fits in a pocket.  Agree that I’ll only be using 1% of the phone’s features.
