Extending 60-Day Visa Exemption at Chiang Mai Immigration - Questions

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I’m looking to extend my 60-day visa exemption at Chiang Mai Immigration and have a few quick questions:

1. Are there any upcoming immigration holidays that could affect office hours?

2. Do I need to show proof of a return flight for the extension?

3. Any other requirements?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Should be close to - Copies of passport photo page and entry stamp, make sure they are double page copies.  TM7 application form inc. 4 x 6cm photo.  Copy of TM30.  No flight details needed.  THB1900.  Some other random documents they'll give you to complete whilst you are there.

2. You don't need to show flight out of Thailand for extension.

3. TM30 may be asked for in addition to standard pp pages and TM7 + photo + 1900b

Thank you very much for your help 🙏 😊 😀 👍

There are no holidays this month that CM Immigration will be closed.  For October, they will be closed the 14th (a Monday in lieu of Sunday the 13th, being the anniversary of Rama IX's death) and Wednesday, October 23rd (Chulalongkorn Day).  Once in a while a special holiday occurs but haven't read about any this month or next.

Yes.  And, I'm not sure about this (haven't done one or helped a friend do one online) but think you can do it through the CM Immigration website (there's an online application for it now) but understand you still have to go to Immigration to get your stamp.

By the way, the office at Central Festival can be just as busy as the main office by the airport.  Last time I was there I got a re-entry permit and it took 4+ hours.
