jippytum Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 A Pattaya city official outraged by poor quality constuction work. Follow the money trail and check work under constuction before final payment would help. 1
ChrisY1 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Just another fine example of Thai workmanship....
kimothai Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Poor workmanship seems to be common when it comes roads and sidewalks. It's mostly foreign workers doing the heavy lifting, and the Thais just supervise. Soi 15 (between 2nd road and soi Bukhao) was only redone a couple of years ago and it already has holes and crumbling concrete.

vangrop Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 To compensate all the beggars on his way, the public works contractor has to save on the quality of the materials in order to keep some benefits for himself
thailand49 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 The Mayor today and all the ones before the municipal officials all the relately contractors are all crooks. Warranty as soon as the complaints and cameras turn off this will like everything be swept under the sidewalks. While the work was going on one could see no cement where were the officials who sign off I guess a the bank making their deposit. 1

They look beautiful then a cement truck comes along fully loaded and wants to park to go in the 7/11, so drives over the kerb and ruins all the overlocking pavers. So that instead of a nice smooth pavement, you have a trap to trip over and smash your head on the pavement. Interlocking pavers can actually carry quite a heavy load if installed correctly on a properly formed base layer. I have seen them used on military bases that have tanks, and they hold up better than ashphalt or concrete. 1
GmailJen Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 That's not all ! Ones should look at the footpaths on the recently widened main Sukhumvit road from Pattaya to Sattahip !! I watched them laying the paving over just loose fill and soil ! Sure they got it done fast but look at it now ! First sign of rain washed way the underfill and now with crooked uneven paving plus the weeds - the whole lot needs doing again ! What a waste of money ! Are there no building inspectors or are they all recipients of brown envelopes ? Hate to think what the road will be like a few years down the line ! 1
gk10012001 Posted October 2, 2024 Posted October 2, 2024 Having been there many times, it is obvious to the casual observer the walks are built on top of just sand. No underlying structural integrity. I have seen Pattaya Klang several meters deep of a hole and not surprising not stable. Any water flow, flooding from storm rain, or even drainage pipes and water just moves the sand.

Where do you live if you believe that nonsense? 1

Charlie29345 Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 Why has the paving on Beach Road never been completed, there is a few hundred meter section not been renewed?

Poor design requirements, poor quality materials and poor workmanship....all combine to achieve this debacle. I take it you do not drive up and down Threppasit Road. At each junction the pavement slopes down to allow cyclists etc to continue along the path. this also allows all other traffic to Mount the pavement with ease. At the thrappaya road end, nmotorised traffic wanting to turn left, use the footpath to avoid the build up of traffic at the lights

seajae Posted October 4, 2024 Posted October 4, 2024 what people need to realize is that quite often the inspectors are either paid off to look the other way or are threatened with violence against family members if they do not pass it, we have seen first hand this happening with the consultant in charge of work her company was getting done, he was informed his wife and childrens lives were at risk if the work was not passed. This is Thailand, they get away with it due to all the corruption here, my wifes friends husband was shot & killed after winning a govt contract, her company has to pay a govt office money every month or they will face major financial loss, all govt offices associated with the company want kick backs to keep things going smoothly, graft/corruption is involved in virtually everything done here, its how a third world country opperates 1
