German Politician Calls for Ban on Greta Thunberg Over Pro-Palestinian Protest Involvement

Greta Thunberg is facing calls for her to be banned from entering Germany amid a decision by local police to classify her as a “violent participant” in political demonstrations.

Senior Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politician Alexander Throm is leading the calls for the climate activist to be forbidden from entering the country, citing her involvement in contentious protests against Israel.

 

Germany's largest opposition party, urged authorities to take action against Thunberg after she attended a protest in Berlin and was invited to a similar event in Dortmund. Throm told BILD newspaper, "It would be not only appropriate but even necessary that the Federal Minister of the Interior issues an entry ban against this anti-Semite in the future."

 

Throm accused the 21-year-old Swedish activist of inciting hatred against Israel, saying, "Anyone who enters Germany to incite hatred against Israel and denigrate our police has no place in Germany." The CDU politician's remarks followed Thunberg’s involvement in recent protests supporting the Palestinian cause.

 

Thunberg had accepted an invitation to a pro-Palestinian protest camp organized at the University of Dortmund. However, the event was swiftly canceled after authorities expressed concerns that her presence would attract a larger crowd than initially expected. German police ordered the event to be dismantled, prompting Thunberg to respond with a video on Instagram, where she criticized the German authorities for "silencing activists." Wearing a traditional Palestinian keffiyeh, she stated, "Germany threatens them (activists) when they speak out against the genocide and occupation in Palestine."

The event organizers took to social media to condemn the cancellation, claiming it was unjust and announcing their intention to file an appeal. According to them, they were given little time to disassemble the protest camp after the police intervened.

 

Earlier in the week, Thunberg attended another pro-Palestinian protest in Berlin, marking the anniversary of the October 7 attacks. The protest saw tensions rise, with four demonstrators being detained after they set off pyrotechnics and burned car tires. Thunberg expressed her disapproval of the police's actions on social media, stating that she "didn't have words" to describe how the German police handled what she referred to as "peaceful protesters."

 

Thunberg’s involvement in pro-Palestinian protests has led to several confrontations with law enforcement. In early September, she was forcibly removed by police during a demonstration in Stockholm. More recently, Thunberg was detained by Belgian authorities after participating in a protest against European Union subsidies for fossil fuels.

As the debate surrounding Thunberg’s activism continues, the call for her to be banned from Germany adds to the growing tension over her participation in politically charged demonstrations.

Her nationality is Swedish but she appears not to have a job in Sweden or any other country that I can think of.  

 

As a member state of the European Union, Swedish citizens enjoy freedom of movement within the European Economic Area (EEA). The Citizens' Rights Directive defines the right of free movement for citizens of the EEA.

 

So she would not need a visa nor a German ID card, and I am not sure that she would need a passport, as her Swedish ID card may be sufficient.
 

Now whether when visiting the EU, she would need to show proof of funds, proof of somewhere to stay, I honestly have no idea.

 

Could she be banned as an activist or a protestor?

 

IMHO she would first have to be arrested, taken to court and found guilty of a crime. That may be one way to keep her out of Germany, but I suspect that she would play the victims card.

 

To me she is no more than one of those annoying little buzzy flies that always seem to be around, but are just that little too quick to be swatted.

She found another cause to keep her in TV news broadcasts.  For whatever reason, she appears to hate Jews.  In one of her social media photos supporting Gaza, she is seen posing with a toy octopus.  The octopus had been used by Nazis as a symbol of Jewish dominance of world events.  It's still widely used among hardcore antisemites.

 

 

But it's not surprising Thunberg would become rabidly anti-Israel.  Palestinians have become the baby seals of the Left.  

 

 

Activists get outraged over the deaths of Palestinians while ignoring much worse slaughter in Sudan, Syria, Somali and Africa south of the Sahara, such as the Rwandan Genocide and wars and civil unrest in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.  Many Westerners aren't even aware of protracted, large-scale fighting in the DRC, much less that close to six million (!) people have been killed.

 

Same-same when the baby seals got clubbed during the annual Canadian seal hunt.  The world saw an outpouring of anger in the press and on the Internet, big protests, calls for boycotts and bans on seal products in 30-some countries.  Meanwhile, hunting that drove my species in Africa to the verge of extinction were ignored.

Every single country in the world comes with its sovereignty.

Choosing  foreign visitors to own country is part of that rights.

If the German govt feels Greta is harmful in terms of  their diplomatic relationship with their ally, they should rather ban her entry.
