The Department of Corrections has responded to criticisms leveled by popular social media personality, Nara Crepekathoei, around the quality of prison food. Countering her comments, the Department stated that the food meets all nutritional requirements and undergoes daily quality checks.

Nara called out the prison food as tasteless and unappetizing. These claims led to the Department outlining its food preparation procedures. From the Bangkok Remand Prison, there have been reports confirming that the kitchen team in charge of inmate meals always follows health and hygiene guidelines, managed by the Department of Health, Ministry of Public Health. Nutrition experts at the Correctional Hospital within the prison have verified that the meals served to prisoners are nutritionally balanced and fit for consumption.

Furthermore, the food and water hygiene at the prison was evaluated by the Chatuchak District Office, earning it a 'very good' rating in food safety. External organizations often conduct training sessions related to nutrition and food cleanliness for both the prison's staff and inmates involved in preparing meals, ensuring food is handled cleanly.

The prison intentionally avoids using strong flavors in its meals to avoid increasing the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol, and kidney disease among inmates. Given to the different health needs within the prisoners, including the elderly and those with underlying health issues, this is taken into consideration.

To make sure the taste of the food is acceptable, taste tests are performed daily by officials, healthcare workers, and selected inmate representatives. These reviews have generally revealed satisfaction with the food's flavor.

Across all prisons and correctional centers nationwide, the Department of Corrections oversees a system to supervise the sanitary preparation of meals. Along with maintaining nutritional value, the system also ensures satisfactory meal quantity and relevance to the inmates' daily activities. Various external agencies perform regular quality checks on food and water, further reassuring the public about the attention paid to inmates' dietary needs.

Nara also referred to an incident where she and Mae Tuck sold gold in a live broadcast. She gave details of how Mae Tuck was compensated but feared possible legal consequences. Though Nara provided payment specifics, original reports did not supply any additional information on this situation.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time.  Lucky they provide food at all.  Predators of society should be on a work farm, producing their own.

Nothing wrong with chain gangs... clearing ditches would be a good start,

Yep .... NO work, NO eat.

Just picking up the trash roadside would be a great help.  Landscaping at parks.   The dangerous folks, stamp out license plates :coffee1:

Plenty of things to do, unskilled or skilled.  Skilled, knock some time off your sentence.  Unskilled, may even learn a trade = rehabilitation.

Agreed.
