Motorcyclists Who Wear Specs.

Recommended Posts

How can you wear specs when you are riding a motorbike with a full face helmet?

I ask because I am damaging my sunglasses by wearing them with my full face helmet if you see what I mean.

What about guys who wear normal specs all the time? How can you wear your specs without damaging them by squeezing them in to fit your ears?

2 ways, take off specs first the put on the full face helmet then insert the specs  yes can be a bit of a pain.

Or get a "flip face" helmet  flip up the chin guard bit whist fully wearing specs  insert head whilst gently expanding the 2 side ear lobes  just a bit  so they don't interfere with your ears/spectacles then flip down the chin guard bit  they cost a bit more but I like them.  also good to open chin guard at the traffic light for more ventilation   full face and open face in one go.

Thanks, but too much bother for just wearing sunglasses.

Get a helmet with integrated  "sun visor"  no need for sunglasses

my flip face Real Orbit, Cosmos   has built in sun visor  works really well

flip on /off from a switch on the side of the helmet.

I wear prescription glasses, and hate full face helmets, so I buy modular flip up now, the last one I could put on and take off while wearing my glasses once flipped up.

But it was noisy as hell, MT Atom, sold it and got LS2 Advent X, flip all the way back 180 degree, much better and quiteter, but can only take off while wearing glasses. Need to put glasses after putting them on, a bit of pain, but not too bad...

I also have prescription sun glasses, but never use it with helmets, any half descent helmets these days has flipped down sun visor, very convenient..., even protect the face from sun burn a bit..., sun glasses won't.

Get yourself an AGV X3000. Large aperture and probably the best peripheral vision I’ve worn for a full face, built for wearing eyewear. My sunglasses are thick and large, no bother at all.

It helps if the glasses are less bulky. I use mine at night. My helmet is supposedly suitable for glasses (red arrow in photo).

Nothing beats going into a helmet shop, putting it on, inserting glass handles in, closing the visor, moving or shaking the head around. You’ll get a good feel which is right for you.

I have no issue fitting my glasses with my full face Real helmet. The only issue I do have is that my glasses have progressive lenses so I have to be careful how I position them as the helmet tends to raise them slightly higher than normal.

You don't need to wear sunglasses while riding if you wear the right helmet... There are lots of helmets with sun visors  (modular or full face). I use a Caberg modular, a five-star helmet according to https://sharp.dft.gov.uk/

Just wear an open face helmet.

Aside from easier glasses wear there's a huge visability advantage to that of a full face helmet

Also offsets 'half' of the point of wearing a helmet in the first place.

Try putting the glasses on BEFORE you put on the helmet.

when buying a helmet you always try with glasses, or when getting new glasses you bring the helmet with you. Most high end helmets have fit for glasses, but the shape depending on your head form and how your ears is placed, so need to try before buy.

Been using glasses with my full face helmets for a decade or two! Just get glasses slim enough to slide behind your ears! What's the problem!!!🙄🙄

Are you serious?

1. Usually you don't wear sunglasses at night...

2. This sunvisor can be up or down...

I never have a problem, put the helmet on first, then put the specs on.

Don't need sunglasses as the helmet has a second visor that flips down for the sun.

My advice if the sunglasses are needed and causing you a problem, change the helmet for a dual visor, then you don't need them. 😉

As you asked about sunglasses, you need to get some proper Motorcycle sunglasses designed for riding. Mine are "ugly fish" and they automatically change from sunglasses in day to clear at night. Designed to fit easily into helmets

Peripheral vision is critical in Thailand on bikes.

Duly noted, will check it out.
