Two students lost their lives while cooling off in an irrigation dam in Sattahip, Chonburi. The two were pulled under by a powerful whirlpool, disappearing before the eyes of their friends who frantically called for help, though rescuers arrived too late.

At approximately 17:00 on October 26, Police Sub-Lieutenant Pornchai Lueapol of the Plutaluang Police Station was alerted to the incident at the Bang Phai Canal overflow dam in Moo 2, Plutaluang Subdistrict, Sattahip District. He immediately coordinated with the Sawang Rojanatham Sathan Sattahip Diving Team, Rayong’s Sawang Por Rescue Unit, and the Sawang Boriboon Foundation in Pattaya.

Upon arrival, divers searched the area for nearly an hour before finding the bodies of the victims, identified as 13-year-old Kwan and 15-year-old Gun, at the bottom of the dam. Heartbroken family members were present, grieving the tragic loss of their loved ones.

Friends of the victims recounted that the group had ridden motorcycles to the dam for a swim during the school break. While playing near the dam’s overflow, Kwan and Gun were swept into the current and pulled under by the whirlpool. The friends quickly called authorities for assistance, but unfortunately, the pair had already drowned by the time divers recovered their bodies.

Police have documented the scene and plan to question the friends further to determine the exact circumstances. Both bodies have been sent for autopsy to confirm the cause of death.

You usually drown in seconds.. calling for assistance is for the retrieval of the bodies.

people were standing there and filming

Very dangerous to  jump in and help, even for  strong swimmer.
