Compared to the buffoon Musk, it is quite surprising how this man typically keeps his opinions to himself. Other than a woman that looks like an alien, he seems fairly normal.

I don't follow any of them in detail. But it seems to me it is bad for business to alienate half of America.

I am sure lots of people won't buy any Tesla (anymore) because of his support for Trump. And fill any Trump supporters buy a Tesla only because he supports Trump? I have my doubts.

Bezos lets everybody buy and does not alienate anyone. The smarter option.

It is a privately owned BUSINESS.

He can run it how he wants. Like other business owners do.

And he can lose money as a result of his decisions.

When the Washington Post declined to endorse Harris, thousands of readers cancelled their subscriptions.

IMO Bezos has a yellow streak a mile wide. If he thinks not endorsing Harris will save him from Trump coming after him, he is very mistaken.

Mainstream news media (ABC/CNN/MSNBC/etc.) below to the past. People know that you can't get news from them, and only propaganda. They will fade away rapidly, I think, if Trump wins, because their nonsense will become even more extreme.

For profit "main-stream media" (MSM) outlets may finally be getting the message: If you are going to be the gatekeeper of information as opposed the purveyors of investigative and factual, unbiased journalism, there is a price to be paid - the loss of trust of the large segments of the public.  Bezos' message should be a wake-up call to what was once considered to be The Fourth Estate, which until the last two decades was a check and balance to the government and the establishment power to control public narratives.  Instead, the MSM and social media have become the gatekeepers of "the truth" whose goal now is to only allow establishment narratives to be published while calling all other commentary, opinion, and journalism - "mis, dis, and malinformation."  And as Bezos opines, the MSM has lost the public trust and the MSM has lost significant readership and viewership to the alternative press.  There is a price to be paid, and Bezos being a businessman first and foremost, understands that embracing and perpetuating intolerant ideologies at the exclusion of alternative facts to the contrary ultimately loses customers which in turn equates to lost revenues and profits.  Newspapers like the Washington Post need to go back to their roots: provide unbiased facts and allow their readers to come to their own conclusions. But force-feed your customer-base a singular biased narrative based on what has become an establishment ideology and insist it is "the only truth?" - you lose customers who now go elsewhere to find their information in order to form their opinions. Hence Bezos decision to not endorse any presidential candidate.

"In the annual public surveys about trust and reputation, journalists and the media have regularly fallen near the very bottom, often just above Congress. But in this year’s Gallup poll, we have managed to fall below Congress. Our profession is now the least trusted of all. Something we are doing is clearly not working.

Let me give an analogy. Voting machines must meet two requirements. They must count the vote accurately, and people must believe they count the vote accurately. The second requirement is distinct from and just as important as the first.

Likewise with newspapers. We must be accurate, and we must be believed to be accurate. It’s a bitter pill to swallow, but we are failing on the second requirement. Most people believe the media is biased."

What does it say about the Media when you look at the fasct that FOX is continually the top watched news platform

fox 2.505 million total viewers in primetime

MSNBC 1.430 million

CNN 853,000 total viewers

FOX ALSO HAS THE TOP SHOW PERIOD IN THE FIVE AND THE TOP LATE-NIGHT 10 PM SHOW WITH GUTFIELD.

No matter what it tells you that people enjoy getting their news and opinions from FOX more than they do any other mewsmedia.

CNN is dying.  MSNBC is getting helped by the NBC brand

If you ask Thai teens where they get their news, Instagram and Twitter are the top 2.

The one thing that the media here seems to ahve over the West is that they report what happens.  It may be incorrect, but they still report what is happening. There isn't as much bias.

Just to add to to my other post

the top 15 watched News shows in the US have FOX in the top 7 with 10 over all shows

MSNBC has 5 with their highest-paid persons Rachel Maddow not even touching the list

NOPR does CNN have anyone in the top.

 Agreed.

We know who the outlets are on both sides. They will evolve or die.

They can no longer perpetuate their BS

I avoid them , like the plague!

They all seem to forget America watched while Biden fell going and coming down Stairs,& bicycles while slurring  speech and calling for dead people.

They never pressured him to come clean about His 2020 debate lies that his corrupted son had business dealings with our adversaries.

Musk is obviously a brilliant man in certain areas, socially he's really inept, and Bezos seems to have it over him in that department. Sometimes it just pays to be quiet and keep your nonsense to yourself.

The other aspect of Tesla is that it's simply a junky car, and as time goes on it gets junkie. The new model 3 feels like they spent under $1,000 on the entire interior with the exception of the display. It just has such a cheap feel to it. I don't think you win over customers by lowering the quality of a product year after year.

Surely trump would have to enact new legislation to penalise media owners for their lack of support. Hopefully any such attempt would not pass both Houses. Has Harris raised this as a policy issue?

Yeah he is really stupid. LOL, the guy is worth 269.3 billion dollars and is the richest man in the world, but he is stupid.

BTW while Bezos newspaper lost subscribers, his wealth went up 2.3 billion

NO one has told her too although I amsure they would like to do something to fox in the Daily Briefing room.

TRUMP is a smart business man the number one rule in business and life is when your enemy is shooting himself in the foot and moving to the grave leave him/her alone.

I think he has the attitude that he can do whatever he wants, and he does whatever he wants.

Will it hurt his business? Does he care?

I am sure many shareholders will care, but Musk doesn't really have to worry even if he would lose 99% of his wealth.

Haven't you heard? Trump has presidential immunity, granted by a supine Supreme Court.

Explicitly stating that, as the owner of WaPo, he will not endorse Harris/Waltz IS NOT an implicit endorsement of Trump/Vance.
But!!!
That is exactly how the progressive, the Left, and Democrats are framing his decision.

Personally I agree with him.  Truly unbiased (or less biased) MSM outlets should refrain from endorsing anyone.

"Truly unbiased (or less biased) MSM outlets should refrain from endorsing anyone".

You presumably feel newspapers during previous historic moments should not really have commented on Stalin, Hitler, Pol Pot, Johnson......for fear of being seen as biased?

Don't you just hate free speech.

TRUMP is a smart business man.

I guess that's why his NY properties all have the lowest tenancy numbers, and nearly all the golf courses he owns are losing money hand over fist.

Converting a $5 million judgment for defamation into $83 million, because he could not keep his mouth shut, is smart?

I think you mean a supreme court that is spectacularly bankrupt, from a moral point of view. A broken court.

I guess you must have an issue with reading, or perhaps comprehending what you're reading. I specifically said the man is brilliant. I said he's socially inept, those are two very different things.

As a Centrist Democrat Harris is not my first choice for president.

However she is not a convicted felon.

She is not suggesting huge tax hikes on the American people in the form of insane and poorly conceived tariffs on imported goods.

She is not a career criminal, who has made a fortune off the backs of good, hard working Americans, who are small contractors and have had the great misfortune to deal with Trump.

She is not a scam artist and a huckster.

She is not a racist. Nor does she support white supremacists.

She has not had five enormous bankruptcies, where she's walked away from many billions of dollars in debt. Nor has she had five deferments from serving her nation.

She does not belittle veterans and the military and scorn their service to their country.

She actually pays income tax, like most decent Americans.

She does not despise immigrants, who have helped to build America.

She's a decent human being, she's not a hater, and nor is she a clown. She is not of average intelligence.

She's not a predator nor has she ever been accused of sexual assault, or paying people hush money.

And she's not a pathological liar, that's enough reason for her getting my vote.

I don’t follow it that closely but I think she was referring to Trump mentioning Hitler himself.

As I understand it, it was the source (the general) who made the claim, that Trump praised hitler from several years ago.   Since the general didn't say it was alleged remarks, seems he might be a candidate for defamation of character.

I suspect the, he likes hitler claim, is more like the steele dossier claim which was found to be entirely fake and not the hunter biden computer, which 50 intel experts claimed was russian dis information, but turned out to be entirely true!

Hard to imagine how you could defame Trump.....but anyway....

The level of fault required for defamation depends on whether the plaintiff is a public or private figure:

For public figures (celebrities, politicians), the standard is actual malice, meaning the defendant knew the statement was false or acted with reckless disregard for its truth.

So I doubt any action re: defamation would be successful.

Seems like malice to me.   But, that is only my opinion.
