Trump’s Puerto Rico fallout is ‘spreading like wildfire’ in Pennsylvania

Donald Trump has a serious Puerto Rico problem — in Pennsylvania.

'Many Puerto Rican voters in the state are furious about racist and demeaning comments delivered at a Trump rally. Some say their dismay is giving Kamala Harris a new opening to win over the state’s Latino voters, particularly nearly half a million Pennsylvanians of Puerto Rican descent.'

Why would Trump have the problem?  We all have seen the video.   Trump never made the comments.  Fact.

I hope the Puerto Ricans in all the swing states rise up and tell Trump what they really think of him on November 5th. He's the guy that called Puerto Rico "dirty" and wanted to trade it to Denmark for Greenland.

Isn't Puerto Rico actually rather dirty ?

Some unknown comedian made the comments.  I’ve never heard of him.  Most posting here most likely have never heard of him.   Trump’s never heard of him.

You don’t think the unknown comedian should be the one under the wrath of the leftist and those in P.R.?

I suppose the fact that Trump has done more for P.R. than any other president has no merits with the leftists.

What I do know for a fact is Biden’s quote saying Trump supporters are garbage came directly from the Big Guy’s mouth.  Biden himself.

You misunderstand completely.......again. What "the left" may or may not think about this comedian's comments is completely irrelevant and not what the linked article is about.

What Puerto Rican voters think of those comments is. Get it now?

"I suppose the fact that Trump has done more for P.R. than any other president has no merits with the leftists."

I didn't know you were a comedian as well!😂

How strange to read there are people who would think that the concentrated poisonous rhetoric made on behalf of in/support for and in addition to Trump's added typical baseless whining can be disassociated in any way !

I agree Trump didn't tell the joke. But what's important is how did Trump react after the fact. It was huge news all over the media and internet. It took Trump more than 24 hours to say anything let alone show sympathy or apologize for the remarks made at HIS rally. All the speakers' remarks are usually vetted beforehand. So how did Trump respond? In his usual fashion of not taking any responsibility for anything negative.

"I don't know him. Someone put him up there. I don't know who he is." -- Trump

Just like he didn't take any  responsibility for his administration's poor response to COVID. Trump may have sat behind the Resolute Desk but he sure did lose Harry Truman's sign that said, "The buck stops here."

And just like Trump didn't tell the joke...Harris didn't call Trump supporters garbage.

Tucker Carlson calling Kamala Harris a "Somoan-Malaysian" was deeply offensive to all bi-racial and multi-racial people. It suggested that anyone who is bi-racial is some sort of mongrel cross-breed whose true racial heritage doesn't really matter, doesn't need to be respected, and can be interchanged with any other racial group without consequence. I could not help but wonder if there are any Trump supporters on this forum who have fathered bi-racial children with their Thai wives. Tucker Carlson insulted your children, guys, and don't try to tell yourself otherwise.

Some of the other misogynistic comments directed towards her (calling her the c-word, low IQ, inferring criminality (she "stole" the nomination from Biden), calling her a liar ("she never worked at McDonald's") and insulting her looks play into all the bigotry and negative stereotypes about black Americans.  Trump saying to Joe Rogan "you're a Khabib person (UFC champion) not a Kamala person" (which infers that real men wouldn't vote for a female president) was absolutely sickening. I have never seen such a revolting display of toxic masculinity in my life, and it occurred to me that many, many white women (and women of all races) watching that rally and listening to all the misogynistic comments about Kamala Harris as a woman were deeply reminded of what it feels like to be marginalized and subordinated because of their gender.

The Trump campaign has been an absolute train wreck in the last week or so, and I'm increasingly of the opinion that his campaign knows (or at least deeply fears) it is going to lose, and is already laying the groundwork for further undermining the incoming administration by actively contesting the election results. I think there is a tidal wave of disgust with Trump which is going to be made abundantly clear on election day.

Trump platformed this comedian -  consciously, in an effort to win over non college educated male voters.

Are you not concerned, that should Trump win, he'll preside over the nation in the same clueless way he has presided over his campaign?

The Puerto Rican illegals weren't going to vote for Trump anyway. Much ado about nothing.

Puerto Rican illegals can't vote for anyone, however the 5.9 million legal Puerto Ricans residing in the US are probably now very, very motivated to exercise their democratic right.

YES INDEED.

Puerto Ricans by definition are ALL U.S. citizens.

I'm sure there are some undocumented people from other countries LIVING in Puerto Rico, but again for anyone left who hasn't learned this yet, if you're a Puerto Rican, you're a U.S. citizen.

Yes, if you're a Puerto Rican living in Puerto Rico unfortunately you can't vote in federal elections and the island as it's not a state, does not elect congress people.

If a Puerto Rican moves to any U.S. state, as they are U.S. citizens, they become residents in their state and can participate fully in local and federal elections there.

Puerto Ricans over time have protested their lack of federal representation and poor treatment by supporting either independence or statehood, but for now and for who knows how much longer, it is a colonial situation.

A quote taken out of context to completely distort what Biden actually said.

LOL!

Listen to the audio. He knew exactly what he was saying. He is a bitter, angry old man.  This is what he said;

“The only garbage I see floating out there is his supporters... his, his demonisation of Latinos is unconscionable."

Two separate thoughts. One about the supporters, one about his supposed demonisation of Latinos.  It is perfectly clear.

This has been clarified. You know perfectly well Biden is a gaffe machine. Yet you cynically put an intention on him that he did not have. Maybe the maga fascists will buy this lie, but most proud Puerto Ricans will not.

“Earlier today I referred to the hateful rhetoric about Puerto Rico spewed by Trump’s supporter at his Madison Square Garden rally as garbage — which is the only word I can think of to describe it,” Biden said on X. “His demonization of Latinos is unconscionable. That’s all I meant to say. The comments at that rally don’t reflect who we are as a nation.”

President Biden

Yeah, but this was no gaffe- a gaffe is a slip of the tongue or calling someone the wrong name. This was clearly said in anger.  So maybe Puerto Ricans are a bit miffed at Tony Hinchcliffe, but half of the voting public is miffed at being called "garbage". I guess he was trying to out-do Hilary and her famous "basket of deplorables" disaster.

You're wrong. It was a gaffe of initial lack of clarity of what he was trying to say.
