How can I minimise import duty on my personal use musical instruments?
My partner is in the UK, trying to sell her place, so I'm trailblazing. I don't have any marital Thai connection, not planning on one either. I just want to escape eye-watering costs of Net Zero and to be able to drive at more than 20mph. -

Report Latvian National Arrested at Suvarnabhumi Airport for Heroin Smuggling
On an individual basis it would do a lot of damage, as heroin users have a very high risk of overdose and death, with annual mortality rates of 1–3%. However, in terms of damage across wider society, alcohol is considered to be more dangerous, as it is a major risk factor for violence, neglect, accidents, cancer and liver disease. Here's a breakdown of what that looks like: Alcohol: Far-Reaching Societal Damage Widespread Use: Legal, socially accepted, and used by billions worldwide. Harms Non-Users: - Violence: Alcohol is a major factor in domestic abuse, violent crime, and assaults. - Traffic Deaths: Drunk driving kills thousands of innocent people each year. - Child Neglect & Family Breakdown: Common in households with chronic alcohol misuse. - Economic Burden: Billions lost due to healthcare costs, lost productivity, and law enforcement. - Chronic Health Burden: Causes liver cirrhosis, cancer, heart disease, and worsens mental illness. - Cultural Normalisation: Makes it harder to address its harms compared to illicit drugs. Heroin: Intense but More Contained Harm Used by a Small Population: Far fewer users than alcohol. - High Mortality Rate per User: Overdose, infections (HIV, Hep C), and long-term degradation. - Social Spillover: Still exists, but less pervasive: - Can contribute to crime, neglect, and strain on emergency services. - Risk of needle sharing and homelessness can impact broader public health. -

Crime Man Arrested for Threatening Girlfriend with Gun in Chon Buri
Picture courtesy of KhaoSod A young man was dramatically arrested following a heated altercation with his girlfriend, during which he allegedly brandished a firearm. This unsettling incident unfolded on the evening of 23rd June in the Bang Saray area of Sattahip district, Chon Buri, sparking immediate police intervention. Police Colonel Komsan Kamtoonkaew, leading the investigation, quickly mobilised officers to the scene after receiving an alarming report. The suspect, a 19-year-old identified as Napath, was apprehended with a homemade gun and shotgun ammunition at his waist, a crucial detail contributing to his swift arrest. According to insights gathered by the police, the confrontation arose from a seemingly innocuous jest. The girlfriend recounted how her playful gesture of sitting on Napath’s chest took an ominous turn, escalating into a severe argument. In a moment of rage, Napath allegedly pressed the gun against her chest—a tactic he had used in previous disputes, according to the distressed girlfriend and her mother. The girlfriend’s mother, evidently alarmed by the repeated intimidation, acted decisively this time by contacting law enforcement, hoping to put an end to the recurring threat posed by Napath’s unpredictable behaviour. Under interrogation, Napath admitted to losing his temper, justifying his actions by claiming the firearm was for self-defence. However, his explanation did little to mitigate the severity of the charges. He now faces allegations of possessing an unregistered firearm and ammunition, in addition to carrying a weapon in a public space without urgent necessity. This incident sheds light on the perilous dynamic between the young couple, underscoring the potential dangers of escalation when firearms are involved. It highlights the critical role of swift police response in preventing potential tragedies and ensuring public safety in domestic settings. As the investigation continues, authorities remain vigilant, determined to pursue justice and provide reassurance to the affected family. Napath’s case now rests in the hands of law enforcement officials at Sattahip Police Station, where further enquiries are set to unfold. Adapted by ASEAN Now from The Thaiger 2025-06-24 -

AN is going down the drain
I have no idea what the broken heart one stands for! Is it a positive, negative or neutral response? I am beginning to think all responses count towards the so called positive vote!
