Officers from the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) arrested a British man and a Dutch man at a condominium in Bangkok yesterday for drug trafficking. They were found in possession of 210 grammes of ecstasy and over 37 grammes of cannabis.

 

The ONCB officers held a press conference today, November 6, to provide details on the arrests of the British and Dutch men, whose identities were not revealed. The arrests followed the discovery of a suspicious parcel delivered to Thailand from the UK on Monday, November 4.

 

Upon investigating the parcel, officials found 210 grammes of MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) inside. Officers then monitored the recipients until they observed the two foreign nationals collecting it.

 

The two men resided at a condominium in the Sathu Pradit area of Bangkok, where officials conducted a raid on their condo unit on November 5. While no drugs were found in the condo, the suspects admitted to keeping them at a rented house in the Khlong Toei area and another condo in Phra Kanong.

 

During a search of the rented house, officers seized 30 kilogrammes of cannabis, packed in vacuum-sealed bags ready for delivery. They also found documents indicating the suspects intended to send the cannabis to the UK, falsely labelling it as pillows.

 

Approximately 1.4 kilogrammes of cannabis glandular trichomes were discovered at the property. Cannabis glandular trichomes contain cannabinoids primarily found in cannabis flowers and leaves and are highly valued for their psychoactive and medicinal properties.

 

Further searches at the condominium in Phra Kanong revealed an additional 6 kilogrammes of cannabis, also packed in vacuum-sealed bags.

 

ONCB officials reported that British police have seized large amounts of cannabis smuggled from Thailand this year, prompting closer collaboration between Thai and British officials to prevent such trafficking.

 

These trafficking groups reportedly enter Thailand as tourists and obtain cannabis from local dealers to smuggle back to their home countries. In some cases, they carry the cannabis with them while travelling; in others, they ship it internationally via parcels.

They imported the XTC from the UK and were about to export weed to the UK.

But why let on where their stash was? They were caught with next to nothing.

They should look on the bright side, they will, after many years of immersion with the locals, go home with the ability to speak street Thai.

Perhaps the police found some document that led them to question about the other condo?

I very much doubt they felt guilty about it. Maybe the police already knew about it. Or your suggestion. Maybe a tip off, or customs had had "dealings" with them before? What a disaster. No wonder they look totally wrecked. They could be facing 10 years. Or maybe it was part of a plea bargain. Cooperate and it will go easier for you? Who knows?

No sorrow for these saps.  Smuggling weed to the UK?  They could just operate a grow house in the UK or smuggle in from Holland.  Just a slap on the wrist if caught.  

Instead, these two will be serving time in the LoS until their anuses prolapse.

You're right. But I had a mate got 10 years for a very small amount of ice. Reduced to 5 as he pleaded guilty. Then halved again by the King. Visited him many times in Klong Prem. Deported and blacklisted on release.

I have no sympathy for these two idiots. They will learn that Thai prison is not a cushy

place to stay, unlike Canada, with TV, interne,, top quality food, etc. I stayed with a thai

policeman and he let me know that they do not even get English newspapers to read

unless someone brings a few to the prison for the warden, staff and a few for grateful prisoners.

Some Thai interrogation techniques or threats of long jail time before even seeing a judge or a court, or the Thais probably had some info and knew they had large amounts somewhere.  Telling no doubt was said to reduce their sentence or punishment.  So crazy to try drug dealing selling trafficking in an eastern country.  Jail time there is not fun.  No doubt they think they will be extradited to their home countries and get off easy.  A follow up would be interesting

I can't understand why anybody would consider sending weed from Thailand to the UK.  Even though its still illegal there the UK is awash with weed, and it is nearly all grown there.  I can only assume they were sending "brick weed"  which as far as I was aware is not particularly popular over there,  The current glut of this stuff is pretty low quality so they won't be able to sell it as exotic" Thai Stick" well not for long, they will end up virtually  giving it away,  The cost of transporting it over there surely makes it hardly worth while

To be honest I seriously doubt the claims made by the UK authorities that this is a common practice occuring on a commercial scale, although I don't doubt a few  idiotic  tourists may get tempted to take a "souvenir" home with them

The Thai police can be very "persuasive" getting information out of suspects, and I don't mean through using charm....

It’s been going on in California for nearly a decade, Brits making it out there sending weed back to the UK. Now some are now going to Thailand. you  see them in Thailand everywhere with their man bags and trakis on . Also its prob cheaper in Thailand to set up, buy and find accommodation to do this than it is in La. The only thing is, here in Thailand, the law is shall we say a bit flip floppy and the locals are far more willing to drop your name in the hat for a few quid.

What kind of simpletons agree to collect Drugs in Bangkok , sent thru the mail where sniffer dogs do random checks on foreign imported parcels.
