In a dramatic turn of events, a blue passenger bus from Rayong to Nakhon Ratchasima went up in smoke yesterday at 3.30pm near Wat Noen Rai in Plang Yao, Chachoengsao. The incident prompts vivid memories of a recent school bus fire tragedy, as passengers managed to escape unharmed once the vehicle was engulfed by smoke.

As thick smoke billowed from the engine compartment, bus driver Siripong acted swiftly, stopping the bus along Road 331 and ensuring all ten passengers disembarked safely. Emergency services were alerted immediately, with firefighters and local rescue teams arriving rapidly to control the flames.

Passengers expressed their terror, recalling a similar, more tragic school bus fire incident. Sirirat, a 26-year-old passenger, noted how quick action prevented disaster. "I noticed the foul smell and alerted everyone. We rushed out just in time." Sparks were reportedly visible, but the timely intervention by firefighters quelled what could have been a major fire.

The incident unfolded just weeks after a deadly school bus fire near Pathum Thani, which claimed the lives of 23 kindergarten students and teachers, and injured many more. The cause of the latest fire remains a mystery despite the bus's recent gas cylinder check, raising concerns over vehicle safety.

I think this is an error.

Obviously they still haven’t learned, or care, about maintaining their vehicles. Unfortunately I don’t think this will be the last time, but at least they got out with their lives. Sad.
