Dog deterrent app that actually works ??

Recommended Posts

Does one actually exist  ??   For use against Soi Dogs

I've tried two supposedly excellent ones only to find they do sod all. Meant to be high pitched noise that only dogs can hear and move sharply away

I can hear the high pitched noise but clearly the dogs are not remotely bothered lol

Forget apps, what's happening when you encounter dogs? many different situations.

I see dogs all the time when cycling 99% ok now

Just occasionally being approached by them late at night walking back to Condo

Daytimes whilst they are about they show no real interest

Maybe they need to get used to you, if you aren't a threat they usually aren't bothered. I have a few i pass near my condo and are fine. Say something to them in a calm non threatening way, usually settles them down when i do it

A mixture of water and bleach in a spray bottle is often recommended on here........

Carry a catapult. If attacked by a dog show it  the catapult and go through the motion of using it. They ain't stupid.

Or an extending baton from Lazada.

Since you can hear the high-pitched noise, it is definitely not high enough to keep dogs away.

"Sounds can become uncomfortable for dogs around 25,000 Hz. The rule of thumb is the higher the frequency and the louder the noise (or higher the decibel), the more discomfort it will cause your pup."

I bought a high frequency chaser on Temu. I can't hear anything, but the dogs sure do. I trained my own dogs with it, as it has a training mode. Dogs are terrified by the chaser mode. When a pack comes near me, one press of the button sends them scurrying. $9.95. Best one ever.

Then you can form a soi dog orchestra and conduct them.  I'm sure the sound of their collective barking and howling would be absolutely delightful.  As William Congreve wrote in 1697 "Music hath charms to soothe a savage beast".

Dogs are cowards, sneaky and not your best friend. One or two soi vermin will not give you any bother, but 5-10 in a pack and anyone will be in trouble, don't give me the making friends with them nonsense. Go for the leader, a smack on the nose with the expandable metal batton and they will get the message. If the pitt bull and xl genes get into the stray population you will need to replace that with a gun.

These ultra sonic devices has been around for a couple of decades, for Dogs, cats, rodents, insects etc. Unfortunately, none is 100% - some are total fakes, while others work for a short time and then becomes useless as the animals tend to get use to it.

Whilst cycling, once I had a very scary experience, when one dog came chasing. I stopped and dismounted thinking the fellow will go off. NO, it came at me menacingly and the only weapon I had was my bicycle! After quite awhile, I rode away for my life!!!

Actually a zapper/taser, small oblong one that doubles as a torch works. You don't actually zap the dog, just press the button and the noise scares it away. I've had 2, rechargeable, but the batteries don't last long so ended up just using the torch and then the torch on my phone seemed to keep them away. Or maybe it was the Richarlison mask I was wearing...................

Are deaf dogs hostile? they can be a problem on the road when I'm cycling as they don't hear you coming

Can be.  If you're deaf the world is a much more scary place.

I bicycle every day and have a taser attached to my handlebars. The crackling sound of the taser scares away any menacing dogs, You can buy them on Lazada.

Agreed. I've had such a taser attached to my handlebars for years...very effective.
