I bought a high frequency chaser on Temu. I can't hear anything, but the dogs sure do. I trained my own dogs with it, as it has a training mode. Dogs are terrified by the chaser mode. When a pack comes near me, one press of the button sends them scurrying. $9.95. Best one ever.

Is it this model?

It seems to me that none of the previously discussed methods for dog deterrence is even half as effective as what has always worked for me.

What I do, is to take an M-80, glue it near the end of my bamboo walking stick.

Then, I use one of those electrical Estes Rocket fuses connected to button I wired near the top of my bamboo stick.

When dogs approach, enmasse, I wait until they are within about a meter.

Then I just press on the button, and BOOM....

Those dogs go flying....

And they NEVER approach again, as long as they live.

You just gotta teach dogs a good lesson, and they are quick learners when you use proper Behavioral Conditioning techniques.

I can guarantee that this method will teach dogs what they need to learn, in just one trial.

Dogs learn far faster than pigeons, in fact.

M-80s are very low cost, and have been around for a very long time.

You can't find nothing louder, for the price.

And, what do they actually sound like....to the dogs?

Most people do not actually KNOW what an M-80 is.

They have never actually seen one, up close.

When I was young....

We had PLENTY of them.....

Cheap as chips, but twice as loud as Frito-Lay chips.

Note:  You know...these GOOD OLD BOYS from the Southern USA love dogs....But...they love to have fun with explosives....too.

Dogs are cowards, sneaky and not your best friend. One or two soi vermin will not give you any bother, but 5-10 in a pack and anyone will be in trouble, don't give me the making friends with them nonsense. Go for the leader, a smack on the nose with the expandable metal batton and they will get the message. If the pitt bull and xl genes get into the stray population you will need to replace that with a gun.

You need help....

Maybe they need to get used to you, if you aren't a threat they usually aren't bothered. I have a few i pass near my condo and are fine. Say something to them in a calm non threatening way, usually settles them down when i do it

Some dogs are born soi, and all they've learned is to attack others that get close. These dogs will attack people also if they enter their territory. Most dogs here don't give you a passing glance, but like everywhere, there are dogs that are vicious, mainly because this is what they've been taught, either by people or other dogs. This is what the OP means when he needs protection.

And its also a way to get an aggressive dog to turn on the violence. Making friends is always the best idea, as no one else is going to "train" these dogs to be friendly. If they attack, of course you can use a baton, against the one that comes at you. Then you leave as soon as possible. The pit and all other genes are all over this country but it doesn't mean they are automatically aggressive. It's taught behavior. A pit can cause more damage than most if it attacks, but any dog can bite and hurt people.

Dog repellant or beter yet, bear spray  are  the most effective ways to scare off soi dogs .  They work every time.  The dogs can never develop a tolerance to repellants based on pepper spray.

The downside is such sprays can't be carried on commercial airliners, not even in checked luggage,  so they can be difficult to obtain in Thailand.  But with a can of bear spray and a collapsible baton as back up, you can fend off a whole pack of soi dogs.

Am I living in a parallel universe here lol

I'm going out for a night of action with Girls but I supposed to take along Pepper sprays Bear Sprays and collapsible batons

I can just see getting randomly stopped by plod and explaining that lot away as I'm languishing in Soi 9

App App App lol was the original question

Thanks for responding nonetheless

Quite obviously 'App' was misunderstood to mean 'appliance'. Doh

What is the definition of an appliance?

a device, machine, or piece of equipment, especially an electrical one that is used in the house, such as a stove or washing machine: electric/domestic/household appliances. Synonyms. contraption. gadget.

In over 60 years I've never once been threatened by a soi dog in Thailand and I find the fear of them rather pathetic.

Try telling that to my Thai wife, she's been bitten three times and won't get out of the car if there's a soi dog around

Does one actually exist  ??   For use against Soi Dogs

I've tried two supposedly excellent ones only to find they do sod all. Meant to be high pitched noise that only dogs can hear and move sharply away

I can hear the high pitched noise but clearly the dogs are not remotely bothered lol

Hello,

Unsure how effective is that pricy gadget , but  vinegar, pepper, and chili always work 100%.

You can get a perfect defense against dangerous dogs for less than $2-.

A useful know-how short video on YouTube.

If you are presently in Thailand, try this.

Unlike in some other countries, Open Carry of this thing here,  isn't a problem.

Then you can form a soi dog orchestra and conduct them.  I'm sure the sound of their collective barking and howling would be absolutely delightful.  As William Congreve wrote in 1697 "Music hath charms to soothe a savage beast".

Sorry to be picky but it is 'savage breast' -

William Congreve: 'Music has charms to sooth a savage breast, to soften rocks, or bend a knotted oak.'

I'm not going to rely on Spotify to save me!
