2 Yr Old Fino spluttering then stopping?

Featured Replies

I'd go with the air filter change idea.

When the mixture (petrol/air) is a bit weak, the engine runs hotter and may smell hot (something burning) and of course the engine won't have the power it normally has and will readily stall.

He took it to an official dealership.

They said the airfilter was dirty and blocking the flow.

The changed the airfilter, oil filter, oil, and new brake pads and fluid. 1500 baht.

He drove it away and 5 minutes the same thing happened again, but with no burning smell. Just spluttering and stopping when the engine is warm.

They changed that and the scooter still spluttered and stalled after warming up then wouldn't restart until cool again.

I read this on google and it makes sense.

If the new fuel filter and new spark plug doesn't fix the issue, I guess a new fuel pump is next?

If it has a fuel pump the engine must be FI, not a carb ,which makes sense as most new bikes are now FI, that would be the problem, the fuel pump or the, I think? the senser, that meters the fuel needs cleaning, I had this problem on my Wave, that was cleaned then no problems.

Thanks.

Air filter and oil filter have already been changed.

Now, they are being instructed to change the fuel filter and the spark plug.

If that doesn't work, the next job will be to change the fuel pump. After that would be sensors etc. 🙄

Why can't mechanics here actually find and diagnose the problem, then solve it, instead of just changing various parts to see if it is them. 🙄

Does the Bike has an Injector System? Have had the same before with my Honda Zoomer and have changed the Injector Nozzle and cleaned the complete Fuel System. After that all was fine and Motorbike still running well.

Let your son and his girlfriend sort it out. Maybe they will learn about maintaining a scooter.

My wife's brother is one who can diagnose and fix things.  He had his own little bike repair shop in Loei years back.  Some of the local farang bikers trusted him to work on their big bikes. (LGMC - Loei Gentlemen's Motorcycle Club)

A dozen years ago we sponsored him to come to the USA where he worked as a cook in a Thai restaurant for years.  Then one day he walked across the street to a Honda motorcycle dealership and got a job offer on the spot.  He's way ahead of the other mechanics in the shop in terms of knowledge and experience.  He laughs about the other parts changers who can't even change a tire or clean a carb.  He gives me credit for his interest in motorcycles - I've known him since he was 12 years old.

Once you find those good shops

life is a breeze.

iMoto in Patty for tires

for example.

Does is have a "rubber" fuel line(s)?

Is the fuel pump inside the tank?

How long does it have to sit before it fires back up?

Changing the fuel filter and spark plug fixed it. They also cleaned something, apparently. 950 Thai Baht.

It also now has a new air filter, oil filter, oil and serviced brakes from their first attempt at fixing it. 1500 Thai Baht.
