Whataboutism that you have just made up to suit your narrative ignoring all the data as usual.

Note the report also says we are the worst in Portugal, UAE, the USA and Spain gets mentioned also.

we are world famous trouble makers

Compare to stats of other nations then you'll have a basis for comparison - without this you are applying your bigotry.

Further distortion - there is no claim of being victimised...  I'm calling you out for being a bigot, your bigotry surfaces in any thread in which a Brit has behaved poorly... The absense of comment when its any other nationality is also notable.

Post stats for other nationalities as a comparison....    then you might have a fair basis for judgement.

The issue of course, is that stats for other nationalities cannot be found.

Fair enough - the stat for Thailand (in 2015) was 45 British arrests per 100,000 British visitors.

You have then chosen to 'inflated' this to assume a number of British touble makes by 10 fold - that could be close, it could be far off, it could be less - you have no idea, but you have now shoe-horned that into your confirmation bias ??

The actual stat for Brits arrested overseas is 6.9 per 100,000.

How many is it for US Citizens ?, Thai's, Germans, French, Australians etc etc - there are no available figures so you have no frame of reference.

How many Swiss, Germans, French, Australians, US arrested in Thailand per 100,000 visitors from those nations? again, there are no available figures so you have no frame of reference.

Look for balanced comparison...      it may still be found found that the numbers British are higher.

BUT, contrary to your assertion - that still does not fit a sweeping generalisation that British Tourists are 'bad' because out of 432,000 British Tourists each year (2015 data), 194 of them getting arrested is 0.0004 %...   and that does not make a fitting generalisation...

This is why you are a bigot. You are pedalling a false narative with your highly flawed generalisation that the British are Trouble makers when it is an extreme minority who cause problems...

Even with your 10x exaggeration that would still be far less than  0.01 % - hardly something from which to draw an intelligent basis for a generalisation.

Keep digging.

OK - so you generalise that British Tourists are trouble makers.

I've used the stats (and guesswork) provided by you to highlight that its far less than 0.01 % who may get into trouble.

I've pointed that any generalisation based on such a small figure is clearly flawed - and this highlight why you are a bigot.

No need for digging...    even without the stats you provided, your content highlights exactly what you are.

A drunk driving bigot who hangs around with mongers !!!

nice play with the stats Richard.

You, yourself have admitted being in more than one savory incidents with Thais so I see where you are coming from.

It think Gotfrid was closer to the mark with his estimates.

It isn’t about what % of Brits cause trouble as you seem to be deflecting to. It is about what % of the trouble in Thailand tourist areas is caused by us in Thailand?

It is a lot more than .0001

You must ask yourself why was my prediction proven to be true?

Why was that? Out of 196 countries in the world how did I just get it?

Take your head out of the sand.

Utter baiting tosh - never any issue that could resemble 'serious or newsworthy trouble'...

... But, if you disagree, list the situations where I have 'admitted to 'unsavoury' incidents / behavior ?

Just now, MalcolmB said:

His estimate that whenever there is an article on here painting a foreigner in a negative light there is a 75% chance it is a Brit - ??? thats no where near realistic... 10% at best.

'us' you mean 'utter tools' ???    So - what % is caused by Brits, are you going with the made up stat of 75% again ??

Nowhere near....

I wrote 0.001% - and thats including your stats, using your exageration of x10 and then more than doubling that....

But - that just highlights your pathetic bias - you think more than 0.001% of British Tourist come here and cause trouble.

Even with your exaggeration, basic maths proves your assertion completely flawed.

Just now, MalcolmB said:

No - in the same way I don't ask why a broken clock is correct twice per day.

When you keep pedling the same rhetoric, you will of corse be close to the mark sometimes.

The absence of your comments in threads not involving the British is more telling of your bigotry.

Just now, MalcolmB said:

Because you are an anti-British bigot who refuses to operate outside of your echo-chamber instead persistently searching for confirmation bias.

We'll next see you in the news reported for DUI - but it will have nothing to do with your claims of being British and everything to do with you just being... well, you !!!..

I completely agree that 'some British' behave poorly...     But to tarnish 'all British' with that negative image is a flawed sweeping generalisation that is wholly inaccurate...

Your made up statistic that its 75% of Brits who come to Thailand and behave poorly is ridiculous and something that MalcomB would make up.... I thought you'd evolved from this level of daft bigotry Gottfrid.

... No one of any nationality is insulated from the likelihood that one of their countrymen is an idiot and will do something stupid...   MalcomB is claiming he is British in this incarnation of his Aseannow membership...   That does not mean all Brits are poorly educated fools with fundamentally flawed mental processing.

You don't need to apologies for the Idiots Gottfrid, why would you apologise on behalf of someone you do not know...

When a Thai person beats up a foreigner we don't expect all Thai to apologise on their behalf.

The only ones who need to apologise are the idiots themselves.

I'm happy to distance myself from the British idiots and any Foreign (Farang) idiots who may make the media, safe in the knowledge that intelligent people will not tar a whole nationality or race by the actions of a small minority of idiots.

You know, Richard. I have really tried. I have had patience with your arrogance and your behavior of always putting yourself on top of everything. All we see, is that you try and tell what is right or wrong about everything. You quote posts as you were there to sort them out and tell what is right or wrong in them. If you agree, then it is like that, and all of us should be happy. Just stop put your opinions as the only thing that can be right. You are not an all-knowing god of right and wrong.

If we look at your comment and your posts all the time, they all come back to one little thing. A person who want´s to balance, going one way that this and another way the other time. In reality, you just go with the median and basically have a lack of own opinion. This has been going too long, and it´s very tiresome.

Now let´s look at you misunderstanding when quoting my post above. For one thing, you accuse me for making up statistics that 75% of Brits who come to Thailand and behave bad. Look at what you read every week in the news. I can assure you, that out of the 100% who behave badly, approximately 75% of them will have a British passport.

With that said, there are coming many Brits to Thailand, so that will not mean 75% of all Brits who visit or live in Thailand. Therefore, you are also wrong in posting that I tarnish all Brits with the same negative image. Therefore, the BS about bigotry and ridiculous and me not evolved enough just pure nonsense.

After that, I will tell you why I apologize for the people who behave badly from mentioned nationality. They need other people to do that, because you and other Brits, always try to protect and make it look good, much better than it in reality is. If you guys stood up, and just agreed with that it too many and too much problems in Thailand with your nationality, then other people would not need to apologize for you.

Not a chance.

I give police no reason to pull me over with my exemplary driving and I know where they set up road blocks.

Apart from the fact that DUI is hardly newsworthy. Only in your fantasy world.

Anyway it looks like our cousin was taught some manners. A lot of blood.

Hopefully they knocked some sense into him.

There is very rarely ever any instance where a physical assault on a Thai person is justified, if it's purely self-defense, maybe. But otherwise it's just completely beyond the pale and completely unacceptable and obnoxious behavior. This guy should be locked up for a while.

Could anyone in the real world have his head so far up his own …..?

The real bigotry is his own, it is always everyone else’s fault. Never ours.

You were proud of your poll that highlighted over 50% of voters admitted to drink driving...

Somehow you think that makes it OK !!!...

The same here... You 'think' 75% of members might agree with your bigotry and that somehow makes it accurate.

The logical fallacies you present highlight an extremely basic intellect, further comments you make cement this impression.

Why do you think you can look down on people all the time? Talking about that we are not evolved enough or have basic intellect. What makes you so superior to everyone?

What you do here in the post I quote, is typical of you. First you take a poll that gave a result, and then put that in the same box as an estimation. That´s 2 different things, Richard.

What is ok or not ok is not the important thing here. What´s is very important, is that you understand you belong to the nationality that brings most trouble to Thailand of all nationalities that live and visits in the country. As a result of that, it will not be accepted nor tolerated that you post slur and use, what you think, is highly educated and academic languages when degrading different member on this forum. Neither will we accept that you always try to shift the blame or the problem from what you don´t want to read, know or see. That will always meet resistance, and will not stop just because you think you have the right to say other posters are less intelligent than you.

Bars should be held responsible for serving customers whom they consider inebriated. That's fine in theory in most countries but who's going to enforce this in Thailand.

Looking at the video the allegedly intoxicated man was on a public street and announced he was on his way home. Then the idiot owner ? left his shop and confronted him, trying to show him who was the boss man. If the idiot owner had stayed in his shop, shut his mouth, and not come out on the street to confront him, the outcome may have been very different.

Maybe that was the cannabis shop owner that tried to shoo him away. Either way, it looked like it was the Thai woman who started the violence. She's the one with the bottle. Yet they are blaming the Brit for being violent. Despite this and there not being any evidence of him being violent presented here, there is the usual baying for blood. Strange creatures.

A rather unhinged rant Gottfrid - the anti-British bigotry that you so frequently displayed in the past has surface again.

I thought you'd learned to keep that broken bias in check...

Disagreeing or agreeing with someone has nothing to do with arrogance - You seem to be of the opinion that because I am capable of stringing a sentence together I am portraying some sort of superiority complex; ergo arrogance - thats down to your own attitudes not my comments.

Going one way that, this and another ???...   erm.. You mean having varied opinions on a varying extent of subject, just like anyone else...    So you don't like an opinion that disagrees with yours - thats ok, thats what this forum us for - debate and discuss opinions.

I disagree with the exaggerated extent of MalcomB's anti-British bias... I have disagreed with the extent of your anti-British bias in the past... I disagree with that same bias you have started to present in this thread.

Yep, I initially misunderstood the statistic you provided.. MalcomB corrected that, which I'm fine with.

And yes, of course I accuse you of making up that 75% statistic.... did you read it elsewhere ?... Post a link then...

You can't because you made it up..... Its not a statistic... its an exaggerated and bias opinion of yours designed to look like a statistic because you are incapable of presenting a balanced argument when clouded by such bias.

You have quoted that whenever there is an issue with a foreigner in Thailand, there is a 75% probability that a Brit caused it...

This is as I understand your quote - there is no basis in fact for this percentage that you have simply picked out of thin air.

Do you also apologies for Thai's who behave badly, or is your apology on behalf of 'farangs' in general ?

Or, do you only choose to apologise for the behaviour of an extreme minority of British who appear in these reports ?

AND... you have the wrong idea.. I'm not trying to protect the idiots - fools who get themselves into trouble are fools, no matter where they are from...   BUT, if I am protecting anyone it is the general reputation of the British who you, MalcolmB wish to slur with sweeping generalisations that are bigoted and flawed.

I have 100's of British Acquaintances here in Thailand, many through sports and socialising... I can't say that I've ever seen one of them behave poorly enough to make the media.... So, of course I will defend the reputation of Brits from bias accusation.

Now: Brits seem to make the media a lot, I've explained why earlier on the the thread.

- Higher number of Brits here / Contagion effect / British centric reporting.

..... and, you may just be right that when 'facts' are secured, more British per 100,000 find themselves on the negative side of publicity here than those form other nations - I wouldn't disagree with such a comment.

But, I disagree with people such as yourself and MalcomB exercising your bias and tarnishing a whole nationality because of what you read on this forum and I do so for one simple reason - the opinion presented is bigoted as it projects from such a tiny minority.

Thats flawed thinking - the Poll I mentioned provided a the perfect example of the flawed mindset MalcomB operatates in - he seems to think that because >50% of people admitted to DUI its ok - its not.

Its shows the logical fallacy he operates under.

Correct - When you and MalcomB tarnish a whole nationality based on an extreme minority your bias should be brought into question...

Apologies for being able to formulate a sentence... Is that really your objection, that I know how to write ???

Finally - I have not disagreed, nor am I in disagreement that there are a number of British Idiots who travel and cause problems...

BUT, I am in disagreement with your biased generalisations and home-made statistics and a clear display of negative-bias that prevents you from viewing the matter with balance, for, if a healthy balance existed we would not see the same posters selectively focusing against Brits in the threads in which a Brit has drawn negative attention.

I would argue the same against bigots who draw similar opinions against Australians or other nationalities in threads where negative bias has been displayed against them (when seriously stated and not in jest).

I make no apology for being able to write...   but the language I uses is not highly educated nor academic, its simply the result of having gone to school !!!...  a lot of others are also able to string a sentence together !

IF you see bigotry and negative-bias elsewhere...  for example when some posters states 'all Thai women are ho's'... (its happend)... do you not also speak out in disagreement ???....

... this is the same...  Its just so happens that you are on a different side of the bigotry this time.
