Police apprehended a food delivery rider at a well-known shopping centre on charges of discharging a gun in a residential area.

The 34 year old rider explained that he fired the weapon out of fear of being chased by dogs. The incident led to charges of causing public alarm, resulting in a fine of 1,000 baht.

At 3pm on Sunday, November 17, Phruet Jamroonsarn, the Superintendent of Bang Bua Thong Police Station in Nonthaburi province, along with his investigative team, detained Chaiyanarin in the car park of the shopping centre located in Sai Noi district. The apprehension followed an incident where Chaiyanarin was reported to have fired a gun at four houses.

During questioning, Chaiyanarin recounted that after entering the alley to deliver food, he was barked at by dogs. Fearing they might chase him, he resorted to using the firearm he had brought, firing several shots in response.

“I bought this gun just a week ago for protection when delivering food, as I have been bitten by dogs before, said Chaiyanarin. “I didn’t think it would become such a big issue and I want to apologise to the residents of the alley. I had no intention to intimidate anyone.”

The gun, which was a recent purchase, had been intended for self-defence against dog attacks during deliveries. Chaiyanarin admitted having been bitten by dogs in the past, which prompted the purchase of the gun. He expressed regret for the incident, clarifying that he had not intended to cause any disturbance or fear, reported KhaoSod.

Initially, the police charged Chaiyanarin with creating noise or commotion that could cause public alarm or trouble, resulting in a fine not exceeding 1,000 baht (US$30). After processing the charges, he was released.

And for riding without a helmet? Or is a helmet not required when firing a gun?

Shooting at dogs? What an SOB.

Then missing the nasty mutts, needs target practice :whistling: Don't fancy being a delivery guy here, constantly being barked at, chased and at times attacked.

Using a scattergun approach?? Trying to wipe out every dog in the soi?? Or just randomly shooting anywhere?? 1000 Baht fine??

Good job the police have the interests of the law-abiding tax-paying community at heart. 🙁

I guess I need to talk to the security guards at our front gate, for now on I guess we need to frisk delivery drivers for guns or other weapons before entering. It appears the RTP don't take gun violence serious enough, this guy should be put in jail, not fined a measly 1000 baht.

I bet the shooter did not have a license to carry the gun,let alone use it!

Was it even a real gun?Not enough info here like usual.

This article leaves more questions then it gives answers, good for clicks i guess?

So he had legally bought the gun and ammo or was it a BB gun ?

Street dogs should all be removed! But shooting at a dog inside a fence is a bit over the edge I would say! He could have hit someone inside! If the government give a price on a street dogs head, they would have vanished within 24 hrs!! 😆Joking of course....🙄
