The unresolved Alpine Golf Course land dispute has trigged a renewed call to action by former Senator Somchai Sawangkarn. In his third open letter, Somchai has vehemently reminded Prime Minister Petongtarn Shinawatra of her duty to address this issue transparently and urgently. The core of the dispute involves a 924-rai plot in Pathum Thani which is currently under the dominion of Alpine Golf Course but is reportedly designated for Wat Thamikararam Worawihan, a revered Thai monastery.

Somchai's discontentment towards this matter is palpable as he highlighted the need for the PM's office to function lawfully and to prioritise public welfare. He said, "The head of the government must perform her duties with honesty for the benefit of the country."

The land was reportedly bequeathed to the temple by its late patron, Neum Chamnanchartsakd, as per her will in 1971. Despite the Council of State ruling in favour of the monastery's ownership rights, the land was mysteriously transferred to Alpine Real Estate and Alpine Golf and Sports Club. Adding fuel to the fire, PM's mother, Khunying Potjaman Damapong, is suspected to be a shareholder in these establishments.

And in another seemingly unrelated political stratum, Sonthiya Sawasdee, a known political activist, has submitted a petition to the Election Commission calling for a probe into former PM Thaksin Shinawatra's alleged dual nationality. This inquiry could particularly focus on indications of Thaksin's dual citizenship in Montenegro, flouting the country's strict regulations against it. "There are concerns about reports Thaksin had bought dual citizenship in Montenegro or another country," claimed Sonthiya.

Both these issues distinctly illustrate the swirling vortex of political and legal challenges currently engulfing the reigning government, triggering a higher level of public and political scrutiny.
