Authorities are investigating the discovery of a human skeleton found scattered in a paddy field in Khlong Khlung District, Kamphaeng Phet Province. Police are determining whether the death resulted from natural causes or foul play.

At 13:30 on 23 November, Pol. Lt. Chatchanon Sanitmak, an investigator at Khlong Khlung Police Station, was informed of the skeletal remains in Moo 7, Ban Nong Krathum, Hua Thanon Subdistrict. He, along with rescue officials, rushed to the scene where they found the skeleton scattered across a field. The remains, dried and devoid of flesh, included seven identifiable bones. A pair of black shorts, believed to belong to the deceased, and a wooden walking stick about one metre long were discovered nearby.

The remains were first discovered by Mr. Jirasak Puangsang, 36, who had been hired by Ms. Sompong Jakkrung, 53, to plow the field for farming. He immediately informed the village chief and police after making the discovery.

Mr. Jirasak described the moment he spotted the skeleton while driving a tractor around the field. “I noticed the bones in the field but there was no unusual smell. Nobody in the village is missing. When I first saw the bones, I was shocked. There was a dog nearby, likely drawn to the scent,” he recounted.

Ms. Sompong, the field’s owner, stated that she had not visited the area for three months and had no knowledge of how the remains got there. “I’m willing to cooperate fully with the investigation,” she said.

Pol. Col. Anek Jansorn, Deputy Commander of Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Police, led the investigation team to the site. They collected evidence and have not ruled out any possibilities, including murder. No missing person reports match the skeleton, so police are conducting DNA testing to identify the deceased. Authorities urge anyone with missing elderly relatives, particularly those last seen wearing black shorts and using a walking stick, to contact Khlong Khlung Police Station.

A local resident, Mr. Suphot Pumin, 31, shared a possible lead. Around 2-3 months ago, he encountered an elderly man wearing a floral shirt and black shorts near the field. When questioned, the man claimed to be from Sa Kaeo village but later mentioned nearby Nong Krathum-Nong Mok villages. Suphot noted that the shorts matched those found with the remains and speculated that the man might have had mental health issues.

Police are continuing their investigation and awaiting DNA results to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding their death.
