Did you read this bit ?

The donation from Musk would likely be made through the British branch of X, which allows Musk to bypass rules regarding foreign donations to a political party, The Times reported.

Since Elon Musk is a foreign national and primarily conducts business in the US through companies like Tesla and SpaceX, he would not meet these criteria.

As I observed elsewhere, Reform UK/Farage would be very foolish to allow Musk and Trump to get involved.

But that's just you, and you don't like Trump.

Or it may re-energize the movement. Politicians need a lot of money to get elected.

Mr Musk seems to think he can buy his way into politics. That may work with Trump, to whom money is central. It would not be well received in the UK

Depends on who's receiving and who isn't. 🙂

So you don't figure X or Tesla or Space-X have incorporated in the UK?

His satellites go all over the World , not just above the USA

Where the satellites are is totally irrelevant.

Forget Musk.

America’s greatest contribution to the UK is Ellen Degenerates.

You got her now!  Or is it him?

With any luck, Labour will act on their manifesto commitment before Musk has the opportunity to act on this possibility.

As for Musk becoming a UK citizen: Is this what right-wingers want? I thought that they wanted to clamp down on immigration?

I think Musk is more interested in acquiring Hawaiian born citizenship, he can probably afford it. Of course, it is beyond the pale to investigate preposterous birth certs by anyone. Totally forbidden.

He could be President in 2028. The second African-American President. And both from Hawaii. Very cool.

Settle down boys.. Elon Musk has got the money  $$$$ to move to the U.K. buy a 500 million pound Castle and buy any company he likes..e.g. British Airways or a bank and then watch the government deny his donation. I don't think so.

Elon Musk, or any foreign national, cannot legally donate $100 million to Nigel Farage or any other UK politician or political party under UK electoral law. Here’s why:

UK Laws on Political Donations

The UK has strict laws governing political donations to ensure transparency and prevent undue foreign influence.

1. Who Can Donate to UK Politicians or Parties?

Only the following are permitted to make donations to political parties, candidates, or campaigners in the UK:

UK citizens or individuals on the electoral register.

Companies registered and carrying out business in the UK.

Trade unions and other registered organisations in the UK.

Since Elon Musk is a foreign national and primarily conducts business in the US through companies like Tesla and SpaceX, he would not meet these criteria.

2. Foreign Donations Are Illegal

Section 54 of the Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA) explicitly prohibits foreign donations to political parties or campaigns. A foreign national, like Musk, cannot make a donation of any amount to:

A UK political party.

An individual politician.

A political campaign or referendum.

The purpose of this law is to prevent foreign interference in UK politics.

3. Donations to Third-Party Organisations

If Musk tried to give the money indirectly—say, through a third-party organisation or a think tank that supports Farage—that organisation would still need to comply with UK laws. If it operates as a political campaigner, it would also be restricted from accepting foreign donations.

Penalties for Violating Donation Laws

Violating UK donation laws can lead to:

Fines from the UK Electoral Commission.

Criminal charges, potentially resulting in imprisonment for those involved.

Political consequences, including reputational damage for the recipient.

Alternative: Non-Political Donations

Musk could legally give Nigel Farage a personal gift or donation for non-political purposes (e.g., a business venture or charity) as long as:

The money is not used for political campaigning.

Proper tax and financial reporting requirements are followed.

Musk has several companies registered in the UK who can legally contribute. As an aside. he has a British grandparent. That, combined with his financial status, would easily qualify him for British citizenship should he ever apply.

Mr Musk seems to think he can buy his way into politics. That may work with Trump, to whom money is central. It would not be well received in the UK, and as @Will B Goodpoints out, would be illegal. That said, the illegality is unlike to concern Musk, he believes that money trumps (see what I have done there - good isn't it?) the laws when it comes to politics!

He would contribute from one of his many registered British sources. Farage has already said he would welcome Musk's support.

It all seems beside the point if the residents of Clacton, who have hardly seen Farage, don't reelect him.
