407 THB is 10 meals for me here.....

But in EU that's cheap. In many countries just a glass of vine is 10 e.

How's weather? Torre is very popular for expats.

Why compare the price of food in one country with the cost of wine, or anything else, from  another country?

Because when deciding where to live the cost of living is a major consideration

How much is your rent, your water, your electric, your cell phone?

And after you've spent most of your pension paying for those, can you still afford to dine out?

Rent is 450 EUR for an apartment with lift near the beach (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, etc.).
Electricity and water have not arrived yet, but the previous tenant paid 35 a 40 EUR monthly on electric and about 15 EUR on water.
I paid on arrival 20 EUR for a SIM card with Internet and Calls (Orange)
Yes, I can still afford to dine out and drink my glass of wine.

Exactly.
It's not only the cost of food or the rent and expenses, but also the health care and other expenses.
And that is cheaper for me in Spain than in Thailand.

You're already paying double for a beach condo, double for water, and double for phone/internet.  I assume the previous tenant couldn't afford to run the AC.

I think you have to remember that you're in a country where the food you're eating is quite cheap.  No offense, but it doesn't really look high quality for Europe.  This means you need to compare it with the same kind of food in Thailand (not the exact same dish).

By the looks of the photos, where you're eating looks comparable with a Thai outdoor restaurant selling most everyday dishes for around 40-60 baht.

So, what you're eating in these photos, could be up to ten times cheaper in Thailand.

Will i get a glass of wine with my meal for 40-60 Baht?
Where in Thailand?

Wow.  Free Bread with some spread, oil and vinegar, salt and pepper, ketchup and mayo.

never seen that kind of generosity from a restaurant before. 🙄

The dinner looks pretty sad too.  The salad looks like they had to strategically place every piece so that the plate wouldn’t show through.  The fries and chicken don’t look all that great.

Looks like a 200 baht meal max.

add 10 baht for the egg.

A whole 5 star chicken is 149 baht.

People should stop calling them girlfriends. They are paid companions. Do you think she would still be with you if she didn't get her allowance?

WRONG ... She works in her family business, she does not need my money.

Who Are you, another grumpy old guy?

You one of the guys who likes those 'gold digger videos', you're the average Joe who can't pull the good looking chicks because you don't have the funds to spoil her.

I do spoil my gf to death, she is a beautiful young woman, all beautiful women need to be spoilt.

It's best for you to keep quiet now, you are not making any sense.

You guys are delusional. You are so busy licking Thai boots that you have completely lost the plot.

He is not paying double for condo because he doesn't live in chicken farm condo. Just because he took bad picture of food doesn't mean the food in Spain is bad. it is far superior than anything in Thailand and that pretty much goes for most of Europe. Everything is cheaper in Spain, most importantly the cost of healthcare. Everyone speaks English.

You guys are whinging and whining about his choice because the only thing that's more expensive in Europe are women, but even that is debatable considering how much y'all have to pay here in Thailand to maintain the "relationship".

Not so sure about that, the city, Torrevieja, wasn't listed on Numbeo, so took 2 similar seaside provinces, Torrevieja, located in  Alicante province, and Chonburi.   Both seaside, both about same population, and area.

Chonburi considerably cheaper, where noted.

I don't think any woman would be with me if I didn't pay them.

The difference between UK and TH, I couldn't afford a small one in the UK, only cows.

Bt,407 for a Bt.200 meal.

Hahahahahah they saw you coming !

You will generally not get that kind of meal -- WITH wine, extras and decent condiments -- at a comparable beach restaurant in a comparable part (or anywhere) of Thailand, and I live in a non-touristy area. 200 baht? 🤣 I love Thailand and will probably die here, but some of you guys are living in cloud cuckoo-land with your blind defence of the place. It was cheap once upon a time, but many things are now more expensive than in European countries, esp Spain. Even groceries in the UK are way cheaper... your boxes ion packet noodles aside.

Perhaps someone will find something comparable lol in some dingy restaurant in that world class family resort called Pattaya, but what the op is showing here is the norm. Other areas of Spain are cheaper than Torrevieja, then get across to Portugal and it goes down again. Then you have your healthcare and easy visas.
