Do you think the insurance companies charge us "farang" price for the health insurance?
It seems as if every time a health insurance cost thread is started it becomes nothing more than an apples to oranges comparison in prices because only one variable (or none) is presented by whoever is stating their own personal policy cost. To better ascertain what people are paying and why, the following information is vital otherwise the answers and advice will be completely useless. 1. Age of insured 2. Policy limits 3. Deductible amount. (One persons “high deductible” is another persons “low deductible) 4. Prior claims history (multiple claims can cause premiums to increase) 5. Smoker? Drinker? Exclusions for previously existing conditions? 6. What countries will the insurance cover you and to what amount. Many companies won’t cover much (if any) in the US for example. Best to call a broker and just get quotes based upon the policy that you want for your personal situation. What other people claim to pay is of little relevance to what you might pay. No idea if there are “foreign prices” and “Thai prices” -

AN Member Post Count Obsession
My post before was not relevant? Your opinion, we all know what they say about opinions. I am not interested in how many posts I make, it just happens. Perhaps I should cut down on my responses to snipers from the peanut gallery. -

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
This appears to have been a very well organised attack, firstly to know exactly when the train would be passing, then to arrange ground operatives to place explosives on the track, stopping the train, and thirdly following it up with HIMARS and Switchblade drone attacks to totally destroy it. Not only is the fuel it carried no longer available for Russian use, but it will take some time to clear and repair the tracks, especially if repair crews also come under attack. The video discusses the possibility that those who placed the ground explosives were partisan fighters, rather than Ukrainian soldiers. If so, then there appears to be a well organised resistance on the ground in Russian occupied territory, in communication with Ukrainian intelligence and supplied by drone drops. -

Swiss Tourist Attacked by Local Youths in Pattaya
Rarely have I read such absolute rubbish as is contained within this thread. Attempts to blame the victim because he must have provoked the youths etc. There is far too little information provided in the report to come to that conclusion. But let's say there was some provocation, most likely something along the lines of asking the kids to move so he could get to his car or to cease sitting on his car, if that's what they were doing? Seeking to justify the actions of the youths or suggesting the victim should have known better are just ridiculous. How many of you, if you returned to your car and found a group of youths sitting on it etc. would walk on by and say nothing? It is again, pure conjecture but its doubtful the kids were doing nothing - if they were, the victim would have just got in his car and driven off. So many of you would do nothing right? Well I for one would not stand by and simply watch such behaviour - even if it meant getting a kicking. Its because we turn a blind eye and more or less accept anti social behaviour in all its forms that we find ourselves plagued by it. When I was a kid we could be awkward or cheeky to older people but an inbuilt form of respect would not allow us to attack them. There is no justification for this attack and neither can there be - coming down hard on today's youth everywhere might bring back the respect that we had way back. -

Recommendations for a laptop
On my fifth ASUS laptop since around 1996. Despite being retired, the previous four were all still working when replaced with a newer model. The latest one is two years old. I only ever needed one warranty repair (new motherboard) that was handled well by ASUS in Bangkok as the laptop was bought in the US and, although having an extended international warranty, the model wasn't marketed in Asia. Took six weeks with a new mobo coming from Taiwan. My office computers all had ASUS mobo's too. However, the new one is a Lenovo ThinkCenter mini which is very good.
