The Ubiquitous SAD Emoji: Still, I have no idea what it signifies.

It signifies that the person doesn't have an opinion they are able to verbalise but they don't like you or something you posted. Continues use of it is an invitation to join the ignore list......life is too short.

There is at least one poster who decides to follow me around and posts the "sad emoji" on just about everything I post irrespective of the content, and I think I know who it is, but then again I'm not particularly worried because I feel sorry for such a sad sack, so just laugh it off and put it down to their ignorance and stupidity.

I have a couple like that, it doesn't matter what the subject is, they will dump a sad or confused emoji on my post. The interesting part is that I know who they are and they know I know because sometimes I call them out. I put it down to their low IQ and inability to formulate an argument or even discuss rationally, it takes all kinds I suppose.

Staff can see who posts sads etc, if you think you are being stalked 'intensional', then have a word.....

What you mean is that you may have identified a number of them by your so called calling out but unless a MOD is involved you cannot have identified all emoji posters against your account!

I awoke some three months ago to four pages of sad and confused emjoi's, over 100 overnight. Of course I had a word and a couple of folks took vacations but those are the bulk emoji posters. The guys who only do three or four at a time can get away with it and they know this. The solution is to ignore them, it works for me.

Obviously, someone is smitten with you, and is pining-away, sadly, as a result.

IHMO, you should be duly flatttered.

Why let this kind of thing bother anyone?

I, certainly, do NOT!!!

There are things that you know and things that you don't know and one of the things you don't know is how I know the things that I know. Since you're going to bait me on this, you really are going on ignore, right now. Bye.

Although I see them on TV, I have NEVER personally used one.

As I say, how would I be able to use one, if I don't know what they mean?

Sorry but I don't understand your question, what is it that you don't know what it means?

If the SAD-arrow is ambiguous, which i believe it is, then there is no way of knowing what the SAD-arrow means, in any given instance.

It might just be that you're looking too deeply for a hidden meaning when the obvious one fits well.

As I said before you neither know what I do nor do you know who is stalking you with emoji(s) unless you have enabled the help of a Mod, which is of course perfectly reasonable if you feel that way!

But please stop posting that I am one of those people!

You mean you actually post something sensible! 😆

Joking!

As you know we do not always agree/disagree but at least we communicate!

I think there's a class of poster who posts to annoy, disrupt, start arguments and so on, you're never going to have an intelligent rational fact based discussion with such people. For that group, the emoji is just an extension of their behaviour, a quick look through their posting history will show you what they are. The other things is, you never ever seek them out, they always impose themselves on you, that's a real giveaway.

OMG!

I actually agree with a post of yours!

PS: I am not being sarcastic etc!

Oh yes. About the same as the use of 'SORRY'.

Damn, someone is sorry, crying tears because of what they said or did.

They are Sad, Confused, Sorry.

Just the IQ level good enough to remember how to type or hit these emoticons.

It is OK, just go ahead. Makes the other members feel good, feeling that, yes, they are part of the group that can understand what they read, and are strong enough not to feel SAD about what they read, of have enough synaptic activity to not be confused all the time.

So keep it flowing, this is good for the AN community. Keeps them aware of their capacity to understand, and their capacity to control their emotions...

O oh.

So everyone else, keep on smiling, it keeps our own moods on the positive side...

And smiles (even the emoticon ones), are very contagious.

Sad and confused both look like constipated faces.

There's a Freudian slip of some note....

I use the sad icon infrequently, usually when someone has posted blithering nonsense.
