Tourists Ignore Police in Patong: Drag Locked Motorbike Through Streets

It's not like in England where it may take hours to get a clamp removed after paying a large fine.  In Bangkok and Pattaya the cops arrive within a few minutes to removed the clamp after you have paid in the cop shop.  Last time I paid 500 baht. 

 

So why bother with this tedious rigmarole and risk being arrested for a more serious crime?

I had my bike locked in Bangkok years ago, it cost me 200 Baht to get it unlocked. Even if these brainiacs had to pay 1,000 Baht, it would be a whole lot cheaper and no risk of spending the night in a Thai jail.

What a joke some locals moaning about tourists breaking laws what about them riding 3-4 on a bike no helmets no insurence nothing, riding in the direcrion to oncoming traffic disregarding other users.

Why wouldn't you thumb your nose at the RTP? Their reputation proceeds them. Corrupt, lazy, unskilled at anything that resembles real policing. Glorified security guards.

It’s very hard to see who is , or not, an unwelcome tourist at immigration. Most people are dressed tidily and behave themselves. It won’t help to reduce the duration of Visa exempt entry either . Everyone can always get a 30 day extra at immigration. What is needed is police on the streets. Especially at night. One or two police boxes strategically placed, and a small shop selling safe helmets at a reasonably expensive price. That would stop most of the idiots without , including Thais.  Breathalyzers would help too, save some tragic accidents even for expats and mostly law abiding residents.
