I sure could not my golf budget is twice that.  That is 700 b a day lots of poor British do it with their lousy frozen pensions, so I guess it is possible.

Come and give it a try for a month.  If you get hungry, they throw a lot of food waste here I am sure the garbage cans at the malls are a gold mine.

I's well known amongst peasantry that most golfers like playing with holes. On the serious note, answer to the OP, you can live on 20.000 THB monthly as you described but keep in mind that you have to have some kind of visa and most importantly HEALTH Insurance that would add to the cost of living.

With 20.000THB/m you can only survive. Living with this amount???? It's dependent on what you call LIVING.....

You shall have to be a very good CHEAP CHARLIE.

We actually do quite well on 20k a month, but we are all bought in, w/solar also, and that saves about 5k a month.

Without being bought in, owning everything, then 10k for rent & utilities, that allows about 300 a day for food, so eating good shouldn't be  problem.

BUT ... that's about it.  A decent survival.  Anyone thinking about that life, stay home and enjoy your safety net, when you have an oops.

But OP is rich, so he shouldn't have any problem.

Ok so I have been envisioning my lifestyle and please I added this word "envisioning" after I saw it written on here so don't qoute me as I don't know the meaning !

But I have been thinking that I buy a Flybird Condo  ( Pattaya) and have it beautiful with nice neon colours and clean

Then I own it ....I have 20,000 baht a month now to live on?

Can I do it ?

Food shopping ? Where can I shop ? Markets I guess

Electric should be 1500

The problem is....even though I live in Australia I am still not acclimatise to the heat so need Air conditioning although most Flybird have a balcony with a breeze

I may have to buy several fans

Food bill may be high,I need to eat protein

Gym I will have to use Tony's ( Pattaya) as it's walking distance 800b a month

Please tell me how working class this  do it ?

Stay home and keep your janitorial job is my advice to you.

What a humiliating post! Again!!

You can't do better???🥴

It's obvious we are 2 people at opposite ends of the spectrum.

You having never grown up, only commenting with hostility and antagonizism.

Try scrolling past comments instead of nasty replies.

When you was young, I bet you was the kid that got a beating everyday in the school playground, judging by your replies.

Why would you need a 45k sofa?

Even in my apartment in Australia I bought a secondhand one off Facebook equivalent of 3000 baht and free delivery

Because some people have taste.

Not everyone wants to live like you.

20,000.

Not much of a life man.

40-50 is ok.

It don't make much deference where you live, if your accommodation is already sorted.

it's what you do that takes the money.

You will need a small motor bike,  and don't listen to the fairies on here about bikes.

I worked with money obsessed ethnic chinese in BKK, and for years I'd learn ho to live on 15K in rented condo. Easy-peasy!

PS: not because I didn't have more money to spend, but because that cult of saving anything you can.

and will buy a small room in the Flybird Condo in Pattaya

Why would you want to live in Pattaya if you aren't going to get involved with nightlife there ?

As you won't be drinking  ,whoring or eating Western food , you may as well go and live in a cheaper Thai town

How do you poor guys like me live without Air conditioning

I remember I was in patts last April /May and it was a bloody heatwave

Get a condo that is in the shade with no sun facing walls or ceiling , then you won.t need aircon

That is a must for a 20k baht budget – and you can settle with public hospital service, you might find a health insurance in the level around 3,000 baht to 4,000 baht per month.

Do local Government Hospitals have insurance policy deals? I asked at mine and was told NO !

They pitch in, ie many people in one loom, that's how they survive.

Unlikely old retired farangs will do the same.

1) He is talking about 20K a month, that is twice that.

2) he is talking about living frugally - although I don't really see the point of being in Pattaya if you have to live frugally. Elsewhere in Thailand 20K is entirely "doable"

That's 580 USD but could get worse or better.

Yes but what about medical? That's the usual next biggest (must) cost.

And travel? Holidays?

If just for food, local buses and bills doable

When you get to the age of some of us, health insurance is impossible. Keep a stash on one side for that.

Or have a few high limit Credit Cards available.

Or DNR tattooed on your forehead! 555

It is all free for everyone in the UK. That's why waiting lists are so long.

In Thailand there is no such thing a waiting list, If you have money or reliable insurance. No nanny state here.

Don't talk silly. There are LONG waiting times here in my University Hospital, but I eventually get what need sorted out for a very reasonable price, both treatment and meds.

Can you live on 20k, I have worked out I will only have 20,000 baht a month to live on

Yes. My house is 150sq meters. I run 5 aircons. We eat out every meal. We go on vacations monthly. Drive a gas guzzler. Easy peazy.

Sorry, please check my original reply again as it is corrected and changed due to a grammatical error.
