I am NOT a diabetic nor is anyone in my family.  Majority passed in their mid eighties,  I have no problem with that.

You're Italian American?

 

True story. I went for a checkup. The doctor was a female from Cambodia. And she said a lot of Italians have diabetes.

 

But maybe the quality of the pasta in Italy is better than in the US? Not sure.

They do sell whole wheat flour in TH ... if wanting a better choice

Of course not,  I am not a doctor as I said I am 77 my sister is 86 my mother past away at 89 my granddad at the age of 113

Sure, the oldest person on the planet died at 113. Did he also win the Aussie lottery like you claimed a few weeks ago?

 

But more to the point, did he also let wokes decide what he could eat?

As I said, my mom died at 92, my dad at 96, both died within 18 months of each other.

They never thought about what they shouldn't eat, other than that they didn't use salt in their meals, and at the time my dad died the only medicine he took was something to lower his cholesterol.

In supermarkets look on the labels. Ideally you should have less than 100 g daily. You can’t believe the rubbish we eat/ drink not knowing the outcome.

Dont hesitate, fix fast. Eat a balanced diet, eggs ,  veg + protein, careful with fruit , it has a lot of suger. Careful eating Thai food, it’s crammed with suger.

Like I said already, the health business, like most other businesses,  has gone woke.

I'm sure you remember the times, even now, that you are advised to eat more fruits if you want to be healthy.

Only a few years ago muesli was considered a healthy breakfast. A few years later, granola was considered much more healthy.

Today both are considered the worst of the worst breakfast you can have.

Time to take back our own lives, and lead it the way we want

Supposedly, the food in Italy and much of the rest of the Europe does not contain all the toxic ingredients found in US food.  That's why there aren't so many fat people in Italy, even though they eat pasta and bread.  Their pasta is made from just a couple of ingredients. Natural food, not the US type processed food ingredients and chemicals.  

 

Here in Thailand, I usually never keep bread around for just that reason.  I do have a package of Italian pasta I bought at Toops in Central Festival, and yesterday I bought a little loaf of Italian bread labeled "Product of Italy."  So I'm going to have some of that once in a while.  

 

Look at the ingredient list the next time you buy a food product.

Yes anything above 71 is high - anything below 55 is Low

 

Most fruits are in the LOW bracket + full of Fiber and Vitamins  and are fine in moderation for Type 1 and 2 Diabetics

 

Cherries Strawberries and Cranberries are  are way down GI 20 - 24

 

Grapes are a low-glycemic option  they're packed with fiber. They have a GI of 53 and are an excellent source of vitamin B-6,

 

Mangoes score 51–56 on the glycemic index (GI) chart

 

Another prime example is Honey  has a GI of 55,  whereas White sugar is GI 91

 

Think maybe how old people are and how they were taught to manage their Diabetes

Well maybe the reason for diabetes is just eating to much calories, and not balanced enough? For anyone in the risk zone, small adjustments can save you from a lifetime on medication

 

Jut a random google link could say something about the real cause, instead of bickering about small details about grapes or other fruits how they influence your system, you can just eat less of everything, and move your body a bit more. Of course drinking alchohol every day, doesnt help even you eat less either. Just common sense, nothing else

Stick with vegetables that are low glycemic, like broccoli, cauliflower, salad greens, cabbage, carrots, bell peppers of all colors, zucchini squash, green beans, and others. Stay away from, or limit,  starchy ones like rice, pasta, corm, root vegetables and the like. All protein sources are good, like chicken, beef, pork, fish, eggs. You can stir fry those veggies with meat easily. Grilled also, with veggies sides steamed or boiled. Don't drink calories in any form. (If you like to drink alcohol, limit them). Look for soy milk, almond, pistachio or oat that is unsweetened unless you aren't sensitive to regular milk. Read labels to see the amount of sugar in boxed cereals and rice dishes. Easy to google low sugar and fat recipes that are easy to prepare.

I'm thinking that was a typo and you meant 2700. You really don't need even that much daily. Somewhere around 2200 depending on your exercise routine.

I'm Polish and Irish but grew up around Italians and have some relatives, including my godfather, who's mom made to this day the best sauce. She and husband were from Sicily. Impossible for me to give up pasta, eating Orzo now, as it's a big part of my daily carbs.You can eat pasta but have to limit it if you're diabetic, as a few of my family members are, and my brother died at 67 from a heart attack which came from not losing weight as a diabetic. If people would google who lives the longest on average, they would see it's the blue zone ones, like Mediterranean and Okinawa for 2 examples. No arguing with a higher average life span they have. genetics plays a role of course but it's not even half of the full equation.

depending on your weight and as well hight. He is 94 kg and 196cm

 

Im 179 and 94kg and my daily intake is  give and take 3000 kalories with a moderate 5 day exercise scedule.

That's why I mentioned that 27000 is too high  ha ..........I'm 172 and 76 kg and I don't count calories but usually eat around 2000 a day, for the last 50 years. Worked out until recently 4 days a week with weights and maintained a low body fat. You're taller so would need more calories to maintain weight.

27 000 was of course a typo, which I'm often guilty of.

 

Not everybody fits the general standards and need less or more, but for me to maintain my weight it takes around 3000 depending on how much I'm lifting. If I add 3 hours cardio week I loose fat quite fast. Now I'm only doing 5x 15 - 25 minutes a week.

Licorice is a Sugar management gift from heaven............natural licorice root expels sugar from the liver........but giving up sugar is only the first step, you need to reduce the carbohydrates, breads especially.  BTW Australian Licorice is the best, I eat several pieces a day, my morning sticks are about 112-130.  A1C was 5.7. -  4 years ago it was 11.6 - change your diet, your body will thank you for it.
