Around 80 is a good target, 50% of people over 85 have dementia, I'd pull the plug if any signs of serious illness, dementia, Parkinson's etc

Yeah? And how would you do that? My father had dementia for 10 years and never knew it. My mom too.. But both would have said earlier in life - Just tale me out back and shoot me - but you can't really do that.

So why waste energy being upset about it?

I feel the same way - dealing with health issues for my wife and myself is surely enough

If they have dementia how can they explain their wishes to you  in a way that you can understand?

When I lose interest in watching Jap porn and have a good <deleted>, I want to go!

And in all fairness, past 65 is more that enough. Homo Sapiens were not designed to live longer than 40 year.

You all old timers must know the feeling when, at 50, you still feel like you can do all the things you did at 30, but you can't! After that it's all downhill, sickness, injuries that take forever to heal, impotence.... you name it.

I don't think that I've ever posted about any relationships I have been in or when I have sex and with whom ?

   Have I ?

I don't recall ever posting about it

You need to either pick it up yourself or hopefully someone will tell you. Once you have dementia you are a different person, old rules are forgotten as are people you know

When i was still in America I thought I would not want to live past 60-. But here in Thailand I have changed that. Now I do not think I want to live when my pecker stops working. If that stops working it means I am too old for anything else as well. I surely do not want to be strapped to a bed without being able to use my pecker when a pretty woman is next to me. Sickly or with injuries my pecker has always worked and always made me feel better at the time. Without that it seems to me that life without using my pecker will be pure torture. Just waiting for something to happen that will let me die quietly and quickly. Better if I do not get so old that I spend my days and nights suffering without any comfort or joy or good feeling inside a woman.

There's no voluntary euthanasia or assisted suicide in Thailand. One of the downsides of getting old in TH.

Yes I know, a topic like this quickly degenerates into a joke contest. Deep down however, life is not funny. Life is bad, death is bad. I used to think coping with such badness through humour was the thing to do. Now I regard it as a cop-out. The thing to do is not to create new life.

Do yourself a favor and have a quick google of "laughing through adversity: the healing power of humour and resilience.....or.....stay away from verandahs/balconies.....your call.

From what I have seen and studied, the idea of picking it up yourself is not in the realm of reality. Many get amazingly adept at even fooling their Drs. as well as themselves. And then what? Maybe I would change but I am just not suicidal...

I'm gonna go on living till I die. No clue, nor idea that will be.

are you aware how much Parkinson's is a slow torturous death? and Dementia is definitely a burden on the family, which i keep reading people don't want. If you don't get those two or similar then great

Then you'll become a burden on the family along with the increasing confusion and time shifting

And are you aware that the ones suffering of it are hardly aware. So what's your point?

they are very aware if parkinsons, with dementia it's constant confusion, so what's your point?
