What clinic can you recommend for treating sleep disorders in Pattaya? Something not as expensive as Bangkok Hospital. Most sleeping pills in Thailand cannot be bought over the counter, so I need a doctor's prescription for that.

You won't find a stand alone clinic for sleep disorders.

Are you really looking for a sleep disorder specialist  or just someone to write a script? There is a big difference. Any doctor (if willing) can do the latter.  An internal medicine doctor would be who'd you see for that.

As others have pointed put, there are medications that can be bought over the counter that do aid sleep.  The medications that need to come from a hospital are the benzos etc, and in any event not wise to take regularly - tolerance will develop and there is addiction potential.

In terms of (private) hospitals, Pattaya Memorial is the least expensive, followed by PIH. Government hospitals are less than either of those but doctors there may be less accommodating when it comes to this.

If you want an actual sleep medicine specialist, best alternative to Bangkok Pattaya Hospital would probably be either

Something from one of the many cannabis shops could possibly help.

Don't forget that it is a Natural remedy, not Chemical.

30 minutes of baseball usually does the trick for me.

That's probably true, i was in San Francisco watching a game, the most boring event ever, people went there just to stuff their faces

A bit off topic maybe, but I actually enjoy watching it. The duel between batter and pitcher a bit like cricket. It just it has that effect. Set the alarm for the top of the ninth!

THC is a chemical.

It is a NATURAL chemical though. Like caffeine in coffee & tea. Or alcohol in wine & beer.

It helps getting sleepy but I don't need the stupid "high" associated with it, with all the weird thoughts, stupid laughter etc.

Stupid laughter? Are you kipping on a park bench somewhere?

No, I laugh to myself at the thoughts and memories which come up.

Not legally unless you have a prescription.  In which case limited to 30 day supply.

Have you tried Sominar (available in Thailand over the counter, and non-addictive)

I have been told 1/2 of a Cannibis gummie works great.

500mg / 30mg?

Dosage quantity is what needs mentioned, plus that can be tricky depending on what you've eaten / mental state / physical state etc.

Varies with the antihistamine, and the patient. Some antihistamibnes have been linked to cardiac issues especially in elderly people or people wih pre-existing heart problems.

At normal dosages, this specific antihistamine (Sominar, which contains doxylamine) rarely causes cardiac problems. The most common side effects are sedation, dizziness, confusion  and balance problems (sometimes leading to falls). These are all more pronounced in the elderly

Contraindicated for people with glaucoma, and people on other medications should research possible interactions.

That said, it is considered safe enough that it is sold over the counter in the US. Can even get it on Amazon.

I suggest you have a sleep test done at the hospital. A few thousand baht for a room overnight and a couple thousand for the test.

I will explain why.

For a couple years I would wake up in the middle of the night and be unable to sleep for another hour or 2. I thought maybe noises or needing to go to the toilet was the reason. I mentioned it to my doctor and they began testing me for the reasons. I tried sleeping pills and tried antihistamines and even tried CPAP machines that push air into my mouth while I sleep but nothing changed. Finally, I agreed to a sleep test in the hospital. It turned out that my breathing would stop many times an hour and that would wake me up. They call it sleep apnea.

X Rays showed I had blockage in my nose and throat.

I just recently had surgery to clear the blockage in my nose and throat. Prior to the surgery they tried to get a camera inside through my nose. They were unable to do so and later told me that my airway was blocked 80%. I never thought this could have happened. I breathed normally I thought. But in sleep the position of the body and the way you breathe changes. Throat becomes more relaxed.

Since the surgery, I have been able to sleep all night a full 8 or even 9 hours without waking up. Whereas usually i was awake within 3 or 4 hours.

So perhaps you should consider what I wrote here and find a serious approach. A sleep clinic can not help you if they do not know the cause of your problem.

Just over 10 years ago, I was diagnosed with sleep apnea back  home in the USA.

Due to ridiculous insurance laws, I was unable to get a CPAP machine, which was prescribed after a Sleep Study.

I was soon in Pattaya, and had another sleep study done at Bangkok Hospital.

Quality of the study and following report & help was as good as (if not better) than the one in the USA.

But - Both the Study and the CPAP machine were much more expensive here in Thailand.

In the USA, you need a sleep study report to even buy a CPAP on your own.

Not sure about the rule in Thailand.

And if you buy accessories and have them shipped in, they likely get flagged at customs, and they want extra documentation.

Happened to me, and ended up returning the mess.

Sleep Apnea can be dangerous. Especially when combined with Alcohol and other "stuff".

So, treat it with respect, and consider spending the time & money ...  Good luck ...
