The Night Agent - a Netflix series, S02 seems to have just started, did anyone catch S01? Worth a watch?

There was another 24 hours in police .. last Monday, again, not really interesting.

I thought series 1 was weak and the two main characters were very wooden.

It was a bit shallow but watchable.

Watched S02E01 last night, pretty poor follow up to series one, shan't be watching anymore...

78 percent audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, 7.5 on IMDB. I'll give it a try anyway.

@Mutt Daeng @Will27 All 10 episodes of the agency s01 are available.

“Martian is a covert CIA agent ordered to abandon his undercover life and return to London Station. When the love he left behind reappears, romance reignites. His career, his real identity and his mission are pitted against his heart; hurling them both into a deadly game of international intrigue and espionage.”

features Richard Geere, produced by George Clooney - some great locations and colours, if you know around the barbican and St. Paul’s. A worthy binge.

Thanks for the heads up @recom273. Getting it now.

It's based on the Bureau which was excellent.

I thought episode 1 was pretty good.

Is The Bureau the French production?

Found a 1080p version of the 1985 BBC series Edge of Darkness. Had a VHS copy for years, but picture quality totally naff. So much so it was pointless watching it. At the shooting scene at the beginning practically wore the tape out trying to freeze frame the image to see who the shooter was. Clear as day on the digital version!

Music is by Eric Clapton and Michael Kamen. Great haunting guitar by EC. Remember him playing tracks from Edge of Darkness when he did his residency at the Royal Albert Hall in 1990 with Michael Kamen conducting the National Philharmonic Orchestra.

Stars Bob Peck, with a young Joanne Whalley as his daughter. Also Tim McInnerny, aka Captain Darling from Blackadder 4. With Joe Don Baker as the Amercian. (Trivial fact, Joe has played both a baddie and a goodie (x2) in 3 James Bond movies).

That's my pre-movie experience for the next 6 days sorted.

I started watching it and something fired a neuron in this ageing brain of mine, and I couldn't quite remember what it was – – until a little later I realised that a version of this was done in around 2010 and starred Mel Gibson.

It didn't follow exactly the same path, but close enough in many respects, however I will keep on watching it because I want to see what the original was like.

Thanks to @RayWright for the heads up on this series.

That was such a brilliant serial .... the acting, the fascinating plot, the music, the mounting anxiety, the plot twists and the amazing ending.

One of few things I've watched that draws you in like reading a good book.

I saw "The Substance" The Substance (2024) - IMDb and enjoyed it.

I enjoyed it, but it seems like it's giant plot-hole after giant plot-hole, and none of them really ever gets resolved. I thought the acting and screenplay was great. Wheels seemed to really fall off at the end. 6.5/10

Only see Edge of Darkness for download on PB, but very slow DL. Is it available elsewhere?

I think it's available on BBC iplayer if you can access it.  May need a VPN.  The post mentioned video and DVD.
