Just watched The Intruder 2019 with Dennis Quaid on Netflix.

Not too bad for a lunch time movie.

  • Mr Inbetween   https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7472896/   One of the best series I have watched in quite some time, an easy 8/10 for me.

  • When you get very old you can re-watch stuff from a month ago and have no idea that you have seen it before.

I absolutely love Survivor US, and just finished season 47. Craving for more, I checked if UK ever produced this show, only to find that there are only 3 seasons. Does that mean it is not worth watching?

I'm surprised 47 seasons in 20 years. I don't mind a bit of crap TV from time to time, I thought Channel 4's Alone was worth a watch along the same lines as survivor.

A friend of mine recommended Strike Back. It follows the actions of a secretive British military intelligence unit all over the world. It comprises 8 seasons. So far I'm up to season 7 episode 8 and have found the series enjoyable and entertaining. All seasons are on TGx.

I stopped at S6, and first couple episodes was enough, as went down hill fast.  Didn't realize there was a 7 & 8.  Didn't warm up the the new folks in S6.  I read the original 2 come back for a guest appearance in E10.

Great show exceot for season 1. I'd advise skipping that as it might give you the wrong impression of the series.

The  change in cast was a bit bumpy, as it took them a season it grow into their roles. After that, though, it returned to greatness.

Decent actor, he played a Judge in a TV series, can't remember the name of it, but it was very good.

Judge John Deed

Saint-Pierre    Crime -- Canada---English Language-----10 episodes  IMDB 8.2

Blurb-- After the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Inspector, Donny Fitzpatrick (Fitz), digs too deeply into a local politician's nefarious activity, he is exiled to work in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon - the French Territory nestled in the Atlantic Ocean. Fitz's arrival disrupts the life of Deputy Chief Geneviève Archambault (Arch), a Parisian transplant who is in Saint-Pierre for her own intriguing reasons

.

Wild Cards.... (Light)  Drama /Mystery---- 10 episodes --all out ....Canada/American......IMDB 7.1   English Language

I don't think its edge of your seat stuff......

Blurb--A con woman and a demoted by-the-book detective are given the chance to redeem themselves. The catch? They must find a way to work together each using their unique skills to solve crimes.

Sweden, back in 2004 was finally solved after 16 years, it was a genealogist who made the breakthrough. For the first time in Europe, a murder could be solved through genealogical research.

The Breakthrough

Thanks @sharot724. I'll have a look at that

Kalak (movie)

It felt the right time to watch the first Greenlandic content movie that I've even seen.

A quite interesting quirky story of a Danish male nurse with a back story of sexual abuse by his father working in Greenland with his family but also into a lot of open relationship affairs with the locals. Based on the opening scene alone -- not for children. The scene where he talks to a doctor who is a connoisseur of pharmaceuticals is a true classic and no doubt reflects a dark reality of some in the health industry. You get a real sense of place (Greenland) from the movie, not so much about outdoor scenes but more about indoor culture.

The meaning of Kalak is dirty Greenlander which is used both positively and negatively.

'Mr. Mercedes' - an oldie but goodie.  AND there's three series.  It's about a deranged serial killer with mummy issues.

Excellent! I have been dragging through the first series of Arctic Circle,a Finnish series, I saw it had made it to the 4th season, so figured it would be good, but really pretty boring, it will be good to get fit something else into the wait for Fridays The Agency, Silo and Landman.

Patience...... Crime 6 episodes all out IMDB 8

Blurb--Two worlds are about to collide: Patience Evans, a young autistic woman, works in a clerical role, in the basement of the City of York police station, filing investigation records. She is an enigma; a profoundly intelligent, self-taught criminologist, able to spot clues that others simply do not see. Yet her talents go unnoticed

I have an idea---maybe they should get rid of all the normal people and just employ Autistic's---The crim's would not stand a chance--still IMDB rating of 8 --have to have a look

Should be out everywhere. Quite entertaining and far from one sided.

I've found a few good Apple Original series on Apple TV+, for anyone who subscribes.

-Slow Horses, now in it's sixth season, I think.

-Silo. also well past the first season.

There are a bunch more, but so far, those are the recent ones.

No .. I don’t think it’s anything to do with being a Brit .. I think it’s about being retarded to appreciate it.

Indeed, which explains why it's so popular in the UK 😂

Watched Anora, about a stripper who hooks up with the irresponsible son of a Russian oligarch and ends up marrying him in Las Vegas. She actually thinks she's struck paydirt until the parents arrive. Not a great film, but the performances are excellent and the twist at the end oddly touching. Another film in the popular modern genre of how the rich treat everybody else like trash.

Decided to watch an oldie the other evening, "The Long Good Friday" starring Bob Hoskins and Helen Mirren, and also Dave King and was pleased that I did as it was an entertaining movie.

Now one for those of English extraction amongst the posters – – on BBC iPlayer there is a series called "Lucy Worsley investigates" (or something like that!) and I decided to watch the one where she covers the Norman conquest of England, called "1066" and was surprised that what I learned. I say that because at school we were never really taught the full story about the Norman invasion, and because I was born in Sussex and have a cousin who lives in Battle (near Hastings) I was particularly interested.

Furthermore just alongside of my birthplace of Horsham, there is an area called "Doomsday Green" which, believe it or not, is mentioned in the Doomsday book, so I've always been interested in both of those aspects, and this documentary solves a lot of the mystery. If you are interested in that sort of thing (I mean the Norman conquest of England and its more detailed history) then this documentary is well worth a look.

PS. Also watched a good move called, "The Burial" starring Tommy Lee Jones and well worth a look if you haven't already seen it and it is based on a true story

Season 3 was scheduled to start in March, but it looks to no longer be coming. I can't imagine why. Forebodes a grim future for some series out of Hollywood.
