Not true.  Only some.  The British Embassy is refusing to issue the necessary paperwork for British citizens to register their marriage.  It's currently unclear when they will do so.  It's an absolute disgrace.

What paperwork is that? They issue the marriage certificates the day of the wedding.

You don't have to marry anyone that you do not choose, so you are safe.

Nobody is safe while mankind is masturbating itself into oblivion.

The British Embassy in Bangkok will not register marriages at all.  The paperwork is the "affirmation of freedom to marry" required to marry at a district office (after it's been translated into Thai and the translation has been affirmed by the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Are you saying that the British embassy no longer issues the "affirmation of freedom to marry"?

It currently refuses to issue the affirmation for gay individuals.  It will issue it for straights.

The online application form does not mention "gay individuals". It asks "Is your partner of the opposite sex?" and if you check "Yes" it allows you to complete the application.

Irrelevant.  See https://www.gov.uk/guidance/confirm-youre-free-to-get-married-in-thailand#:~:text=Same sex marriages, outlines the procedures. which explicitly states that the Embassy in Bangkok will currently *not* provide the necessary documentation.  (I have also emailed them about this and they have confirmed they are refusing to facilitate provision of the affirmation.)

It's not a disgrace; it's just how Thailand's not-so-helpful British Embassy works. We Brits are WARNED to follow the LAWS of the country they visit but B. Embassy Bangkok cannot follow. THAI LAWS.

I want to see the first foreign man married to a Thai man register their marriage, claim the Thai man to be the "husband" and the foreign man the "wife" in the marriage, and demand the same considerations as foreign women who are married to a Thai men.

For you gay expats out there - here's your chance.  No more proving financial requirements, and after three years of marriage you can apply for Thai citizenship, just like the foreign wives of Thai men.

Whose gonna be the first one up to give it a shot?

You are well informed... The law is changed from man and wife into person.... No man and wife anymore... all the rest is the same
