Popular Post Georgealbert Posted yesterday at 03:20 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 03:20 AM UPDATE Picture courtesy of the family. A 28-year-old British holidaymaker has tragically died in a motorbike crash while on holiday in Thailand. Corey Beavis, from Barry, South Wales, was killed in Phuket on Saturday 4 January. Corey’s twin brother, Liam, paid a heartfelt tribute, describing him as his “best friend” and “number one partner in crime”. The family is now trying to raise £35,000 to repatriate Corey’s body to the UK, with over £10,000 donated by well-wishers in less than 24 hours. Liam said: “Every single good memory I have in life is with my brother. We lived life to the fullest, and I’m glad we did it together. Rest easy, big man, see you on the other side. From the womb to the world. “This has changed me forever, but I promise I’ll make you proud. I’ll carry him with me on my journey, smashing it for him like he’d want me to.” Corey’s family also released a tribute, saying: “On Saturday morning, 4 January 2025, we received the devastating news that our beautiful boy lost his life following a motorbike accident. “Corey lit up any room he walked into, with his larger-than-life character and infectious laugh. He was a genuine person with nothing but love for those around him. “He had so much left to give this world but lived a life beyond his wildest imagination. As a family, we have suffered immeasurable loss and now face the heartbreaking task of bringing our boy home to rest. Without travel or life insurance, the costs are unimaginable.” Reports from Thailand suggest that Corey was riding a rented motorbike without a helmet at the time of the crash. A spokesperson for the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has sadly died in Thailand.” The family continues to raise funds for Corey’s repatriation, with an outpouring of support from friends, family, and well-wishers touched by his story. Popular Post webfact Posted yesterday at 03:45 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 03:45 AM British family mourns tragic holiday heartbreak in Thailand by Bob Scott Picture of Corey Beavis and his twin brother Liam courtesy of The Daily Mail A British family are reeling from the heartbreaking loss of a family member who met a tragic end in a motorbike crash while holidaying in Thailand. Corey Beavis, a “larger than life” young man from Barry, South Wales, died in a motorcycle accident on Saturday, January 4, in Phuket. The crash has left his 28 year old twin brother Liam, who described Corey as his “partner in crime,” devastated. With a bond forged over countless shared memories, Liam said, “We lived life to the fullest and I’m glad we did it together. I’ll struggle with this pain forever, but I promise I will make you proud.” In a bid to bring Corey’s body back to the UK, the family has launched a fundraising appeal, aiming to raise £35,000 (1.52 million baht). In a show of overwhelming support, more than £10,000 (434,000 baht) was pledged within the first 24 hours alone. Tributes poured in from all corners, painting a picture of a young man full of life. “Corey lit up any room he entered with his larger-than-life character and infectious laugh,” his family shared. “He had so much more to give this world and was loved by all who knew him. Now, we face the unimaginable costs of repatriation without travel or life insurance.” Daily Mail reports from Thailand suggest tragedy struck when Corey, not wearing a helmet, crashed on a rented motorcycle in Phuket. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has stepped in, offering support to the grieving family. As the family races against time to bring Corey home, they remember the boy who lived beyond his dreams, vowing to keep his spirit alive. “Rest easy, big man. From the womb to the world, I’ll take him on my journey, smashing it for him like he’d want.” Picture of Corey and Liam Beavis courtesy of The Daily Mail Source: The Thaiger -- 2025-01-07 1 1 1 2

But if he was drinking... not having a licence... no helmet... even some drugs in his system... he gets ZERO baht from me to his GoFundMe. I do not help idiots. Babasino Posted yesterday at 05:06 AM Posted yesterday at 05:06 AM Anyway, if stupid or not. It's a tragedy and an dremandas lost for his family and friends. It's always very sad when a young man or women dies like that, even if he carry the guilt. 2
Popular Post Seppius Posted yesterday at 05:20 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 05:20 AM Even if he had insurance, doubt they would pay anything, wonder what sort of bike it was? No helmet, and probably not a legal licence for Thailand 1 3

Also not wearing a helmut is plain stupid. Possible he had insurance. Failure to wear helmet would invalidate it anyhow. Travel policies have specific provisions regarding Motor vehicle accidents. Some will cover motorcycle riding, some will not, but AFAIK those that do always require that (1) you had a valid license (2) wore a helmet and (3) were not intoxicated. 4 3 2 10

bradiston Posted yesterday at 05:32 AM Posted yesterday at 05:32 AM I went to renew my bike insurance yesterday here in Pattaya. The most I could insure myself for, for accidental personal damage was 20k THB. That's what they call first class insurance. The other party was covered for 50k. Without my medical insurance, in patient only, might as well stick with the compulsory 300 THB government cover. This policy cost me 4,230 THB. I guess it's a snip. So I don't know what kind of insurance foreigners can get to cover these monster bills we read about. Surely the premium would be more than the cost of the holiday? 1

black tabby12345 Posted yesterday at 05:39 AM Posted yesterday at 05:39 AM Young tourist's death while riding motorbike here. Pretty common sort of tragedy in this kingdom. Quite a few non-riders back home allured by low-cost bike rental in Thailand. Hitting the unfamiliar road with different rules to reach nowhere...
Popular Post ChrisKC Posted yesterday at 05:40 AM Popular Post Posted yesterday at 05:40 AM He is another human being like all of us! Nobody deserves to die for an error of judgment that some foreigners make while in Thailand. If it is your son, you have no sympathy if he dies, even if it was caused by stupidity?? More than 50% of Thais don;t wear helmets; most of them will be lucky and will never have an accident, I feel for his twin brother and all his family! 3 1 4
2long Posted yesterday at 05:43 AM Posted yesterday at 05:43 AM The (high) target amount of money to get his body back seems to have been calculated very quickly, as well. I would have thought a grieving family would have other things on their mind than working out t he exact cost, and setting up a GoFund me or whatever. 1 1
