Young Woman Attempts Suicide with Insecticide, Saved by Brother's Quick Action
Picture from responders. A 24-year-old woman was rescued just in time after attempting to take her own life by consuming insecticide and mothballs in Pattaya early on January 9. Emergency responders from the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Centre were alerted to the incident at 00:35. The woman, identified only as Miss Biu was found in a distressed state at Khao Phra Tamnak, Pattaya, Bang Lamung District, Chonburi. She was crying inconsolably and clutching her stomach in pain after consuming some insecticide along with mothballs. At the scene, rescuers discovered a bottle of water, a packet of mothballs, and the bottle of insecticide, which were collected as evidence. Rescue personnel provided immediate first aid before rushing her to a nearby hospital for urgent treatment, as it was unclear how much of the insecticide she had drank. Her brother and mother stayed close by, offering comfort and support Miss Biu's mother, identified as Miss Bee, recounted the harrowing moments leading up to the rescue. She explained that she and her son had grown concerned after being unable to reach her daughter. The brother persisted in calling until she finally answered, crying uncontrollably. When pressed for her location, she revealed her whereabouts, prompting her family to search for her immediately. Upon finding her sitting alone in the dark with the bottle of insecticide in hand, the brother quickly intervened, snatching the bottle away before contacting emergency services. The mother revealed that this was not the first time her daughter had attempted to harm herself. In a previous incident, Miss Biu had also tried to take her life but was saved in time. The family remains certain about the underlying issues causing her distress, but they expressed relief that her brother's timely actions prevented a tragic outcome this time. Authorities have urged families to remain vigilant and seek mental health support for loved ones who may be struggling with emotional or psychological difficulties. -- 2025-01-10 -

Hit-and-Run Incident Leaves One Dead, One Injured; Later Drugs Found in Abandoned Vehicle
Picture from responders.. A fatal hit-and-run collision occurred early on 9 January, leaving one dead and another injured after an SUV collided with a motorcycle-sidecar carrying a couple delivering grass for cattle. The incident took place near a PTT petrol station in Ban Kham Pa Lai, Kham Pa Lai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Mukdahan Province. CCTV footage from nearby shops captured the SUV striking the motorcycle and dragging it for over 50 metres. The victim, identified as Ms. Supan 64, from Pa Tio District, Yasothon Province, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her husband, Mr. Patcharapol 65, sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital by emergency responders. At the scene, police found debris from the SUV, including a broken left headlight, a fuel cap, and a fog light. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash and saw the SUV, described as a six-seater family vehicle, speeding away towards Mukdahan City on Chayangkul Road. Approximately an hour later, a tip-off from a resident led police to an abandoned SUV matching the description in Ban Don Muay, Bang Sai Yai Subdistrict. The vehicle, a navy-blue Toyota Yaris Cross registered in Chachoengsao Province, showed significant damage to its front and sides. Inside the vehicle, police discovered documents belonging to the owner, a mobile phone, a shoulder bag, and drug paraphernalia. A small quantity of what appeared to be crystal methamphetamine was also found. However, the driver was not present at the scene. Police have collected evidence from the vehicle and are conducting a thorough investigation to track down the driver and hold them accountable for the hit-and-run, as well as potential drug charges. -- 2025-01-10 -

Revenue Department boss calls on tax residents in Thailand to file 2024 returns by March 31
It might be semantic but is doesn't seem right that income is assessable and then immediately made exempt , it surely is exempt income from the outset, although there's little point dwelling on this. It might be sensible to expand that list to include assessable income that is exempt under the terms of a DTA also, can anyone see a reason why not? -

Fight breaks out after Thai woman leaves 2 husbands for foreigner
I wonder if the foreigner actually knew about the woman’s two husbands before he got involved with her. If he did he’s nuts to be anywhere near her. Retribution towards him is highly likely as we all know loss of face and jealousy here are serious problems. He needs to get the hell out of dodge and leave her well alone or he might not be around much longer. -

Chinese Fraudsters Rob Fellow Citizens of 13M Baht in Bangkok Crypto Scam
The victim files a complaint at Huai Khwang police station. Photo: Amarin TV In a bold and audacious heist reminiscent of a thriller, three Chinese nationals were left reeling after being defrauded of a whopping 13 million Baht in a cryptocurrency exchange scam in Bangkok. The incidents, which appear intricately planned, unfolded on Thursday as the victims attempted legitimate currency-for-crypto exchanges. The first incident took place in Huai Khwang district, at a house on Pracharat Bampen 12 Road, around 3:30 p.m. According to Pol Col Prasopchok Iampinit, the head of the Huai Khwang police station, a Chinese man named Huang Guang was duped by three fellow countrymen. Huang reported that his bag, loaded with 5 million Baht, was snatched during what was supposed to be a straightforward cash-for-crypto swap. As the criminals fled in a Toyota Alphard van, Huang made a valiant attempt to pursue them using a local motorcycle taxi, but his efforts were in vain. The investigation revealed that the van belonged to Zhenkun Cai, who resided on Yenjit Road in the Sathon district. In a significant breakthrough, the police managed to recover the stolen 5 million Baht from his residence. In a parallel plot that occurred almost simultaneously, two other Chinese victims were embroiled in a similar fraudulent scheme at the G Tower building in the bustling Phraram 9 area. The duo carried 8 million Baht in cash to exchange for cryptocurrency with a group of four compatriots. In these transactions, a middleman had been introduced, ostensibly to facilitate the exchange. However, the meeting turned sour when the group of four, under a thin veneer of legitimacy, seized the cash claiming they had transferred cryptocurrency to the middleman. Confusion and disbelief ensued as the middleman denied receiving any digital currency, leading the cheated parties to file their complaints at the Huai Khwang police station. The episodes highlight a growing trend of deception involving cryptocurrencies, a space rife with both potential and pitfalls. While blockchain-based currencies promise anonymity and speed, they also attract those with nefarious intentions, exploiting legal and technical grey areas. Authorities have urged vigilance while dealing with such transactions and stressed the importance of using trusted and verified exchange platforms. Meanwhile, investigations continue into these brazen thefts, as police collect evidence and track down the culprits involved, reported Amarin TV.. -- 2025-01-10
